my dear, a bit extreme for me

but I don't have any too, even my tennis mate who is 60 years old got one

I am always out-dated and for me, I think some people (not all, no offence) treat this as a place to show off their "beautiful photos" and luxuries, i am more discreet and introvert type, i don't think I have the need to share my detailed daily life as to when I have dinner, when I am going to bathroom etc with others

Rafa! Rafa! Rafa!

Epic movies, like brokeback mountain, are seldom found in the industry or worthy for the mainstream viewer. As often as I have watched the clips of this movie, I always find something more to it. For one, the gay stuff doesn't enter the picture for me, only the dimension of the highest love I have ever witnessed in life or on film.

To be honest it is a real waste of time and lost of productivity.

Of course, most people treat facebook like a place to show off, but that's not its ultimate purpose. Twitter is more inclined to that than facebook, since you are invited to brag about each minor thing you've done each hour. I do have a facebook account, and I use it for networking. Say if I want to go in cologne for the winter fairs, and I want to know how it was last year, I can look up the event on facebook, or at least a group related to it (there are all kinds of groups nowadays), join in, see pics of how it was, meet people who will go this year as well and meet them.

Re: Got Facebook?

Facebook is addictive. I think with FB is like with most things, you can use it positively or simply waste your time being there, I consider my activity there as a mix of both If we're talking about privacy, everyone adjusts it to own preferences. I'm surprised how many things some of my friends show from the "real" life but there are others who don't even show the face on a single photo... I think the problem with FB begins when you're connected to Internet with your mobile phone and being somewhere you check out what your friends have just done it on FB. Thankfully it's still not a threat for me since I haven't got Internet in my cell and the cell isn't necessary for me. Usually when I go to a pub or somewhere, I don't take it with me to avoid situation that I talk with someone "face to face" and the other person disrupts it making a call to me with silly questions.

Re: Got Facebook?

Facebook, like all social networks start off really good... but as their popularity grows... it starts to get inundated with crap...

I mean, don't get me wrong... I play the games (because I don't have anything to do ) but for me the best part is keeping in touch with friends... I don't like to use MSN/AIM too often... I don't know why but I just don't really like to use them.

Also, facebook keeps me in touch with all the people I first talked to here and care for deeply, who have decided to leave MTF forever.

Re: Got Facebook?

Sometimes I don't understand people's aversion to social networking sites.... especially on here... since... you know... you're being social with people here.

If you took away all the apps, Facebook really just seems like a really really unbelievably broad forum. I mean... you comment here on a thread and someone responds and adds to the conversation... the same goes down on FB... especially now that they have a "comment the comment" type of format.

We have photo threads here, there are photo albums on FB where people comment and can discuss.

With social networks, people are linked by some sort of common interest... just like we are... because of tennis.

And how much you put out on FB can be just as much as you do here... it just so happens that all your movements are concetrated on your profile, rather than in multiple threads spread across a site.

What exactly don't you like about social networking? I mean at least give examples.

Re: Got Facebook?

As i see it forums aren't social networks. On forums the focus is the subject of the forum that you get to talk about ,you exchange info and opinions about a chosen subject, you don't get too personal with people as the focus is on the subject ,on social networks the focus are people and interests/hobbies are just excuses to get friends or whatever .
I don't rule out the possibility that i start liking someone on a forum and get friendly but it's not an enforced social activity that i have to do !

Re: Got Facebook?

when i put my interests and hobbies up, it's not an excuse to get friends. nor is it with most of my other friends. it is a chance for my friends to get to know random things about me. don't lump me into some sort of friend whoring stereotype.
