Re: 2007 Arse Clown Contest voting format?

I think it should be 1 vote = 1 game, especially during the earlier rounds when some of the less popular matches tend to drag on. I think that that could be altered later on as suggested, because pretty much everyone will by then have an opinion on the contenders.

martine - search for some of the old Arse Clown contest threads, and there should be some guidelines there.

There are no guidelines, it's a free for all

No not really (sadly). Basically we have a committee who pick out the biggest 'arse clowns' on MTF. An arse clown could be defined as someone who talks the most nonsense. There have been debates as to whether trolls (e.g. GlennMirnyi) should be considered, as most of his posts are for a kick and it is doubtful he believes much of the tripe he says. Anyhoo, I think it's a 128 player draw (possibly 256) this year, and a draw is made like a normal tennis tournament. Then the MTF public get to decide on each match and say who they think the bigger arse clown is (we're deciding on the voting format at the moment). Giving reasons for your vote is optional, but I always find it adds to the game, unless people take it too seriously and get upset.

Here's the 1st round last year for reference The "Kapranos" Arse Clown TMS Champs Main Draw. 1st Round Completed

There was some chat before the voting began on page 11

Considering there are going to be 8 rounds, it will be time consuming for sure.
As for later what round it would the last 16 or last 8, that should be considered?

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

You don't get the MD a week before the event, you cheeky so and so.

First have a referendum on whether or not ''mtw'' should be declared ''winner for life'' That way future elections may be unnecessary, a la Chavez.

As good as your theory sounds, buddyholly. mtw actually has some competition this time around.

Well done that was a great call, but I hope you can get a good draw and show off your potential.

Re: 2007 Arse Clown Contest voting format?

Shame there's no Mistaflava/Cindy19 pre-match banter this time around

As for making the decision about later rounds, I think that should just be left for now. The way it's going, it'll almost definitely be 1 game per vote, which is fine enough.

Re: 2007 Arse Clown Contest voting format? November 6 starting date

The link Adam posted was for this year's ACC "TMS". Here's the link for last year's ACC "Grand Slam" if you will:

2006 ACC 1st Round (bottom half)

Btw, if you read through the first 5 or 6 pages (between 360Live (aka Seinfeld, RDucky) and its.like.that's calling eachother idiots) some good points were made. I'm totally against the 24 hour format but we need to make sure we don't have the same problems as last year. It started to get very complicated with the introduction of postal votes and the rules that came with it.

26 people voted in the first 30 minutes of that session. Kapranos, Bolar Bolabi, adee-gee, uNIVERSE mAN and GlennMirnyi won their matches in just 15 minutes. Surely we don't want to see that again. Ideally it would be nice if the votes were spread over a few hours so that no-one feels rushed. We would like to have time to read through everyone's votes and the reasons they gave. It also makes counting a lot easier.

I don't think everyone appreciates how difficult it is to count votes that are coming in so fast. Even for the 1 vote = 1 game format it was a NIGHTMARE to keep the Live Scores of 32 matches updated. I would strongly suggest splitting the first round into four sessions so that only 16 matches need to be counted at once.

Another problem is that after an hour of voting it turned into a chat thread and there was only about one vote per page. This made it even harder to keep track of votes and update scores. Unfortunately I don't see any way of stopping this. There were plenty of side threads for the ACC last year but everyone kept chatting in the voting thread.

In honour of our Brave Leader, this should be called the Etienne De Villiers Championsip.
