Asafa Powell breaks the 100m world record!

Powell smashes 100m world record

Jamaican Asafa Powell broke the world 100m record by clocking 9.74 secs at the IAAF Grand Prix in Rieti.

Powell, the bronze medallist at the recent World Championships, shaved 0.03 of the record he previously set in Athens two years ago.

More soon. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/athletics/6986250.stm

Typical really, he can't do it on the big stage yet, but an impressive time.
I wonder if he'd trade it for the WC gold though, I doubt it. He needs to bring it at the Olympics next year though.

At the semifinal of a race in Trienti. I saw footage, that is about as small a stage as you can run an official race...

Asafa, you better not choke in the Olympics..

17 (yes, yes, yes!) Slams! And counting....

Re: Asafa Powell breaks the 100m world record!

Powell, soft as marshmallow over the fire.

Do it on the big stage.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
