30-year sentence for mom who starved her 3 children
A Scottsdale woman found guilty of three counts of child abuse was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Thursday.
Kimu Parker was charged after her children were found malnourished and emaciated, a condition her husband, Blair, told police was due to the couple's vegan diet.
She was convicted in April and sentenced by Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Thomas O'Toole.
In a statement, County Attorney Andrew Thomas called the sentence "entirely appropriate for a person who almost starved to death three defenseless children."
The children, ages 3, 9, and 11 at the time of the woman's arrest in April 2005, weighed 12, 29 ancd 36 pounds, respectively.
Blair Parker, who was also charged with three counts of child abuse, is scheduled for a court hearing Aug. 23.
Meth is a big problem in Southern Arizona!
