Re: MUSIC you into?

I love Soul from the 60's and 70's (especially Motown - Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye; and things like Aretha Franklin). I like music from the 60's in general. I also like Jazz and Reggae. The music I listen to today is Alicia Keys, Erykah Badu, India Arie and The Roots, I sometimes listen to Public Enemy, A Tribe Called Quest, and the Fugees.

Re: MUSIC you into?

Is it???

I would be so happy if you could recommend things to me. I'm just getting into this, and there isn't so much selection in the music stores I go to. I'm probably butchering some names so bear with me. Cheb Mami and Ali Farka Toure are two that I really like. Toure is more Mali really than Arabic.

Re: MUSIC you into?

I like an awful lot of music. Even genres which I don't like too much are sometimes musically interesting enough for me to enjoy in some capacity.

Some favorites:

Beethoven, Mozart, J.S. Bach, Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Stravinsky, Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Brahms, Chopin, Purcell, Steve Reich, Messaien, Debussy, Ravel, Xenakis, Ligeti

Vladimir Horowitz, Glenn Gould, Richter, Haifetz, Pearlman, Lucia Popp, Dawn Upshaw, Rostropovich

Gershwin , Sondheim, Jerome Kern, Bernstein, Weill, Rodgers (w/Hammerstein and Hart), Cole Porter, Irving Berlin

Louis Armstrong , Art Tatum, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Harry Connick Jr., Thelonius Monk

The Beatles, Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, The Pixies, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The Violent Femmes, some Bruce Springsteen, R.E.M., Radiohead, Coldplay, Ben Folds, Bjork, Laura Nyro, Nick Drake, Ryan Adams, John Mayer, Liz Phair

I believe in luck. How else can you explain the success of those you don't like? ---Jean Cocteau

Re: MUSIC you into?

I like.. euhm.. half of Andylover's list... hehe...

No, I will try to sum up my fave music... here we go: Maroon5, John Mayer, Bryan Adams, Coldplay, Travis, Damien Rice, Franz Ferdinand, U2, The Beatles, Silverchair, Incubus, RHCP, Jamiroquai, Stereophonics, 3 Doors Down, 16 Down, Rosemary's Sons, Silkstone, Blof, Kane, Racoon, Our Lady Peace, Goo Goo Dolls, Jason Mraz, Lifehouse, INXS, Alicia Keys, Shea Seger, Norah Jones, Robbie Williams and Keane. That was about it . Don't get me started on music, cuz I might never stop again ...
But above all goes: MATCHBOX TWENTY (of course) and K's Choice (and maybe Maroon5 should be here too.. with the best.. cuz, for a newer band, their gigs just rule and they are such good musicians and entertainers!)
I also have several albums of 80's music, for dancing and stuff

~* Tommy Robredo *~

Also good luck to:
Lleyton * Marat * Todd R * Thierry * Mario * ToJo * Janko * Andrei * Seb * Nono * Misha * Igor * Fab * Kirill * Frank Dancevic

Matchbox20, Maroon5, Goo Goo Dolls, Switchfoot, Lifehouse, John Mayer, Alter Bridge, Jamie Cullum, Saybia
