Hotel in Prague?

Can someone give me any personal experiences with a good hotel in Prague? We will go for 4 nights and want to stay reasonably close to the center of town. We prefer not to have any modern chain hotel like Marriott or Sheraton. Something more typical of the area, charming, and clean (and safe).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Re: Hotel in Prague?

When are you going? In the middle of summer it's going to be very expensive, how much are you willing to pay?

Do a day trip there is more to see in the Czech Republic than Prague.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Hotel in Prague?

I've had good success reading the information at tripadvisor.com and tripadvisor.co.uk. There might be some info there about decent Prague hotels (you can search by price, then read the reviews in the hotel profiles).

Best twitter posts of the epic match:

@dougrobson - Whoever is supplying Mahut with hair gel needs to ink a sponsorship deal now.

@Wimbledon - FYI, with @Wimbledon live scoring devices, please add 50 to the games in the fifth set of the Isner v Mahut match.

@HolterMedia - Nice to see that a three-day test has come to tennis here @wimbledon.

Thanks George.

I am going (2 adults + one whiny kid) August 28-September 1. 4 nights. We want to pay up to SFr 150 a night (or approx US$150 or thereabouts) and must stay in the town center.

And, we are open to all suggestions outside Prague which are doable without a car (meaning, local transportation). If you have ideas, please let me know or send me a PM or even a good link if you have.

Thanks Fee. I'll check out the Trip Advisor right away. I am always worried that these glowing web reviews are written by the hotel staff

Re: Hotel in Prague?

hope it helps...

Abaka it's general website (a hotel datebase) but famous concerning Prague, the site is mentioned in all Czech Republic travel guides.

some hotels located in the historical centre of Prague:

Hotel Opera
Hotel U Raka
Hotel Sax (but don't choose rooms with view on the patio)
Hotel Biskupsky Dum
Hotel U Tri Pstrosu Hotel The 3 Ostrichs you know july and august are low season in Prague. For instance, for this hotel the 4th night is free if you arrive on a Sunday or Monday

Re: Hotel in Prague?

and a last selection in the 2nd arrondissement of Prague (not far from center)

Hotel Anna ./. 10 % if you pay cash and reserve directly at the hotel. You feel like you are in a house of the old New-York
Hotel Lunik cosy, very nice and friendly

well, it's no personal experience, it's just excerpt from a recent travel guide... i'm interested too by a future stay in Praha

Ok, good I have an idea what you are after now and I will see what I can find for you. I don't have experience of staying in Prague hotels mainly cause I stayed in private houses and I was very thankful for that.

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Hotel in Prague?

Thanks a lot, George. Anything would be helpful -- please don't waste too much time. If you can remember anything off the top of your mind, that is perfect.

Interlaken, thank you so much for those hotel suggestions. I will look them up right now. Be back later.

Everyone else, thank you also.
