violence & sport

Unfortunately Football/Soccer has always had trouble with fans fighting and hooligans, a film has just been released which its main aim it says is to potray male culture and open peopels eyes to football and hooliganism, this is fictional storyline film by the way.

I think its bullshit that it educates people and i think it does more harm than good and gives potentially violent people the heros and role models once you bring it to big screen and glamaorise it, just wondered other peoples views.....

Conan would gladly knock the living daylights out of Elijah Wood.

Re: violence & sport

It sounds interesting. I wonder if it'll be released in Australia. Like even if I don't agree with the notions of the film, I'd still watch it and take out my own interpretation.

Is elijah wood in it?? haha

Recently, I've been a little bit more concerned with **** and sport.

Re: violence & sport

seriouslly though its not funny whe you see young kids crying and pubs and bars being smashed up and angry guys one the rampage you hope its something that is dying out, you really dont need films abot it and get to like character etc and understand his ways, only take the wrong brain and wrong person and they are inspired.

Re: violence & sport

I hate hooliganism as well... I deterioartes football sooo much....
Here they don't know this kind of violence with sports...EX: during hockey games fans are mixed up and nothing happens...

Oh well... I also remember being scared of hooligans when i was younger...

Can't imagine what's gonna happen during World Cup 2006 in Germany...

seriously, I agree with you that the connection is regrettable, and shouldn't be encouraged or glorified.

Are you talking about Canada?

Have you been to some Junior hockey games that the parents yelled at each other and fists were flying? It's not very typical but happens

And yes, at the professional levels, the fans are very sensible and reasonable until their team won the Stanley Cup.

Re: violence & sport

that link is even worse here in belfast, cos religion is added to the mix

when there is a rangers and celtic match which has a controversial score all of a sudden fights start and graffiti appears

fights also start between loyalist clubs here (glentoran and linfield), it goes far deeper than rivalry
