Gold Cup Final: USA d. Mexico 2-1.

Like most Americans, I know little about soccer, or futbol whatever you want to call it. I would like to get into it and I watched the World Cup last year and I watched US beat Canada last night in the semis. Is the US soccer team becoming respectable and are they the favorite to win this matchup vs. Mexico on Sunday? I do know that this is a bitter rivalry though.

Tim Henman--Gael Monfils--James Blake--Donald Young--Rafael Nadal--Jo-Wilfried Tsonga--John Isner--Janko Tipsarevic--Richard Gasquet.

Re: Gold Cup Final: USA vs. Mexico

USA is slightly better.

Mexico has had better "native" players through-out the years.

However they have been very over-hyped in these recent years.

Re: Gold Cup Final: USA vs. Mexico

Mexico has been playing poorly and the USA-CAN match should've gone to ET. Hopefully USA will perform well and take the Cup although really it's not a really strong competition. Mexico always plays bad in the USA and the last game between them was for the Americans. Copa America should be more interesting.

You could see that when both teams qualified for the final they weren't even showing emotion....it was really sad....

Canada were robbed of a clean equaliser in the 94th. I don't know how the ref saw that goal as offside, never ever was that the case.

Re: Gold Cup Final: USA vs. Mexico

Even if the Canadian player was in an offside position, he was played onside by a US player. USA did not win the game. They were awarded a victory because USA-Mexico was the final that was required for the TV ratings.

How much do you think the US paid the refs?

Good game here, the US could have easily had 3 to 4 goals.

I was hoping the Mexican fans would misbehave, so that I could gloat, but they don't seem to have been bad. Maybe because it was not played in LA. Only Hugo Sanchez at the end was showing that he is a bad loser.

Re: Gold Cup Final: USA d. Mexico 2-1.

Never in doubt.

finally Mexico scored a goal vs USA in american soil (1st since 2000) but still they lost

USA will play the Copa America with a "B" team, and Mexico without many players... i see Mexico going deep in Venezuela anyway

America wins and America yawns.

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."
