Re: Federer's next coach

Do you think he's waiting for Darren Cahill? As soon as Agassi gives it up, that is. Also interesting that Peter Lungren might become Safin's coach. I think that might be a good match for Safin. He needs something, and getting him back on track is good for the game. On the other hand, Lungren knows everything about Roger, so that benefits Safin in their encounters.

BTW, newbie here. Just another person lovesick for Roger's game.

Re: Federer's next coach

Welcome Teemuh

I for one don't think Federer is waiting for Cahill because he said he won't take anyone coach and for Lundgren coaching Marat, I think(and hope ) he's a honest guy not to divulge anything. But I have this feeling that Lundgren didn't know any secret weakness of Federer that he and Marat can exploit

Re: Federer's next coach

I also feel Federer's game has progressed a bit since he and Lundgren departed, Cahill would be a great coach for Federer and Darren should be available at the end of this year the way things are going

Re: Federer's next coach

Interesting news that Lundgren will be the coach for Marat!

Maybe Marat hopes that Lundgren will find the weakness of Roger.

Thanks for the welcome, Blaze. Yeah, I think Roger has the short list in his head. He's just waiting it out.

But I don't think Roger originally planned to be coachless until the end of the year... Let's just hope he will find one at the right time!

Re: Federer's next coach

Marat is expecting a Roger-type game and rocketing upward to top in ranking? No way unless his mind is working ie. working against the usual him Lundgren maybe knows Roger's weakness, actually we also know it to some degree, but I bet he just can do nothing about it. What's more Roger has gone to a new and high level with his mental strength since his split with Lundgren, so Marat should need a not-on Roger to help besides Lundgren if he aims at Roger.

But yes Roger needs a coach...so Roger, find someone that you think suits you well at the right time.

Re: Federer's next coach

Lundgren maybe knows anything about Roger and plays an important role in guiding him to the top, so this could be a very good choice for Marat and he could get back some confidence as the US Open Champion. But the question is, how long the new coach will last? Marat is known for getting rid of coaches. Sometimes he treats his coaches as friends rather than experienced coaches.
To Roger, actually, I don't know how to evaluate his non-coach playing, because he did so well and perfect even without a coach!! So, I am just really interested in the 'guy' who will be Roger's possible future coach.

Re: Federer's next coach

Marat can know Roger's weakenesses all he wants, it still won't cure him of his chronic flakiness.

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."

I get a little worried that whether Peter could bear Marat's bad temper ...

Oh, sweetie, as far as I know, Marat treats his every coach very friendly and well, sometimes even like friends, not coaches at all!! I guess his bad temper always appears in the tennis court. But out of it, well, I should admit he is kind.

Re: Federer's next coach

in fact, marat treats everyone friendly. he broke his racquets just cos he was not satisfied with himself.
I think the new coach can bring marat to a higher level, but he is not aimed to ROGER. after all, knowing one's weakness is one thing, defeating him is another thing!
