Competitve draw for Roggie but I'm excited for some quality matches

R1: Tiafoe W 4:6 6:2 6:1 1:6 6:4
R2: Youzhny W 6:1 6:7 4:6 6:4 6:2
R3: Lopez W 6:3 6:3 7:5
R4: Kohlschreiber W 6:4 6:2 7:5
QF: Del Potro L 5:7 6:3 6:7 4:6
SF: Nadal
F: Querrey

Obviously the potential R4 with the young aussie could be a tough match pre SF but I believe Roggie will step it up when he needs to. If he were to make the final it looks as if his SF could be tougher than F - on paper of course.

Only question mark is the back. Guess we will only get a good idea come Tuesday.

Can he win another USO, 9 years after his last victory here in NYC? Barring injuries I think this is a great chance to add to his tally. That said I'm pretty sure we are in for more of a fight than Wimbledon this year

GL Rog!

Re: USO 2017: Quest for 20TALITY

Three slams in the same year – at the age of 35/36 – would be simply incredible, wouldn't it? So, I'm going to be realistic and say it won't happen – but I hope it does!

Quote:
True to his word, he had a very laid-back response as to whether he’d win the U.S. Open: “No, I think it’s going to be difficult, you know?” he said. “I know everybody says that, but I just don’t see myself winning three Slams this year. If I would have told people, ‘I will win one more Grand Slam,’ there would have been a 50-50 thing, where people would have said ‘no’ or ‘yes’—and here I have two already. Three would almost be too much to be true, you know?

“But I’m in good shape, I’m ready to go, and I’m very excited for the U.S. Open,” he continued. “And it’s been an unbelievable year, so why not play one more amazing tournament? For sure!”

With the whole Murray withdrawing debacle, Querrey moved to different section -----> Kyrgios R4 very very likely

The way this draw shook up is bulls#it. Roger's back does seem to be better than Montreal, with this draw he'll need to be going 100% to win #20. Saying that I can't wait!

Another Game for Milos

ROGER

Re: USO 2017: Quest for 20TALITY

It's weird but at this point I don't expect anything from Federer. When Wimbledon started I was nervous as hell. Now I'm, like, ok, one match at a time and we'll see what happens. Of course I want him to win #20 (and grab the #1 ranking if possible) but I just don't have any special expectations this time. I have no idea what his level is at this point, let alone how his back is doing. That's why that R4 against Kyrgios looks so dangerous.

My feelings exactly! I guess we will know his condition when he plays his first match. He will be little bit rusty in 1st round, but may settle down in the 2nd round. The first round match will be exciting to watch against Tiafoe, can't wait to see it.

I have no expectations but why do I feel the universe has conspired against him? Bad back tough draw, slow high bounce court.

Re: USO 2017: Quest for 20TALITY

My anger has subsided and I'm relaxed. There is nothing that any of us can do to mend his back, change the draw or speed up the courts. Roger will do his best and that's good enough for me, irrespective of the result. As this has been an unexpected year, and given the unusual circumstances of this tournament, I'm going to expect the unexpected.

Even with his back problem, he can do 100% for one match. Remember last year's Wimbledon? He won against Cilic despite wonky knees.

It's gonna be a problem if he has to play 100% in back to back to back matches. Which he will have to, considering this is a slam, and his draw.
