Montreal 2017: It's Roger(')s cup after all!

Alright, never opened a tourney thread before I hope I do this right.

Draw obviously not available yet, and we just got the news he's playing here.

Allez Roger!

Great !

Anyway people have little hopes coming into this tournament then it's great for a first tournament thread, you don't risk feeling bad about it, the only "risk" is for a good news

He will be number 3 seed, maybe number 2 if Murray withdraws.

Has never won Montreal, and not won in Canada since 2006 ... just like Miami

useless old guy

I'm quite confident he will get to no.1 at some point. So glad we can see the Fed in action so soon!

If Federer wins Montreal and Cincy he's number 1 at the US open... Quite incredible after last year

Excited to see Roger play at a tpurnament he has seldom played in recent years.

In terms of the draw, I think it's not too bad considering Sock and Kori are still in the draw in Washington and may be fatigued (mentally or physically) by the time they reached Rog. Thiem is less of a risk than Zverev imo on HC. The real test will be if Polanksy beats Pospisil, given his ranking is outside top 100... :]

He fits so beautifully on those lush blue north-american hard courts.

I actually had a small amount of confidence that Roger would play Montreal and he did. Hope he makes the most of a depleted field. And The draw looks good on paper as well. Any insight on as to how different is Montreal to Cincinnati in terms of court speed and bounce?

I think If Nadal reaches both finals and Roger wins both then Nadal will be number 1 at the US Open. Federer needs to win both events with Nadal not reaching the two finals. If roger wins both and nadal reaches one final and loses in the SF in the other event then Roger will be the n1 at the USO. I am not 100% sure about would be great if someone confirms.

With such big crowd turn out, you'd think it was a masters final and Federer won it.
