Let's Talk About Stephane Lambiel!

Sorry, I couldn't help it.
I know that he's a figure skater and has nothing to do with tennis, but he IS from Swiss and is a fantastic athlete.
After winning a silver at the Torino Olympics last month, he just defended his World Championship title in Calgary with a brilliant free skate on a bum right knee, no less.

Is anyone here a figure skating fan?
Lambiel is an amazing spinner with a beautiful artistry and a technical difficulty to back it up.
He still has some way to go to compete with Fed for "the Swiss Man of the Year" award in terms of achievement imo, but he is not too far behind.

A few years ago I started cheering for him simply because of his nationality (Fed Effect), but he has evolved into such a great skater and apart from Plushenko, he is the best at the moment.

He seems so friendly and polite, too, just like Fed.
These Swiss guys are the whole package!

Nice thread ! I like this guy very much, I know him for a lot of years now, as we comes from the same village, and now he studies in the same university I was, in Lausanne.

So glad he did the back to back World Championship titles

Re: Let's Talk About Stephane Lambiel!

I am so proud of Stéphane! Simply, congratulations for defending his title at the world championships, despite of his injured knee!! I heard he won't have any big competition till end of the year or the beginning of the next year, I hope he will rest his body well. I think he will be nominated for Swiss Sportsman of the Year award in December, maybe the major contender to win the award this time (too early to tell about this as Roger has still lots of stuff to do and amaze us, Tom Lüthi is starting his season this weekend as well, and what about Phillip Schoch?)

Does he go to the university in Lausanne or the Institute of Technology?

We could start "Let's talk about Tom Lüthi!" Thread as well, no?

Hey Robin, how is your music study going?

Roger, Chiudi, Stan the Man, Michi, Timea, Swiss guys and girls

good luck RF!!

Re: Let's Talk About Stephane Lambiel!

I watched the skating and I was glad Stephan won. He did an amazing job. I think Joubert from France is too mechanical and he doesn't have good flexibility in his spinning and doesn't have much artistry. I am so glad that Stephan could pull of the two quads he needed in his program to match and better Joubert.

Roger Forever !

!

Well done, Stephane! Nice to see him defending his World Championship GOLD! He likes it in Canada! Does he remind you of another amazing Swiss guy who's just as creative and artistic?

Re: Let's Talk About Stephane Lambiel!

I remember reading somewhere that Fed called Lambiel to congratulate him on a win in an event before the olympics. Pretty cool.

Hi, Steven. Thank you for asking.
It's going okay. Nothing unusual.
How are you doing?

Lambiel's free skate was amazing!!
It was good to see Joubert back in the mix as he had been struggling last couple years, but I agree that he is too mechanical and not artistic enough. The ESPN commentators were saying that he worked with some Swiss guy on his spin and improved a lot though. But he's got to have some success with a program other than "Matrix."

Steph had his triple axel downgraded to double and had a slight landing problem on one of the jumps, but he still wins convincingly!!!
I think I'll change my flag to Swiss.

Joubert worked with female Swiss skater Lucinda Ruh. Here is her website http://www.lucindaruh.com/ She is an amazing spinner.
