Re: ***The [insert witty comment here] Miami thread***

Mangoes, Dirk might have been laughing at yr. statment that winning Paris & Wimby back to back "might not be so very hard".......I don't know how to do the laughing emoticons...so I'll just say in the style of you know who You Cannot Be Serious......

It was tough enough in Borg's day, but w/todays racquet technology & so many dirtball specialists, there's not enough time to recover mentally or physically bet. the two & still get in any grass court practice. (They should definitely add 1-2 wks. between the 2 to accomodate the new technology & makes it even vaguely feasible to win both.) Throw in Thuggy, who'll prob. go down as the greatest dirtballer in history.........nah "it won't be so very hard" at all....Chuckle, Groan!

Re: ***The [insert witty comment here] Miami thread***

I'm w/Rogiman on this, but somebody should start a thread just to weigh in on the probabilities of his winning both in the same yr. Or of winning even just FO...

I understand your point, but he may just do it Last year, he made the SF and went on to win Wimbledon. He needed to win the SF and play one more match to get the FO. All I'm saying is that it's possible and it may not be as hard for him as we're thinking.............. His biggest obstacle for the FO is Nadal, and I still think Roger is capable of beating Nadal.

Re: ***The [insert witty comment here] Miami thread***

Only Miami, but I see the RG mood is already here

Can't believe it's almost that "time" of the year again ...I would love for him to win RG once in his career, even if that's on the expense of Wimby too. But of course if he can win both same year, then hell yeah!...wish it's as easy as it sounds on paper though.

As for Miami...no Rogi isn't going to tank it for sure. I can't picture him playing a master as the defending champion just for show

As for the title,

we have Rogiman "Unless you are going to beat piggy here, let's tank it"
for Mirkaland ":retard: Rogiman...why are you all obsess with Nadal?...players a/b/c/d/e/ can beat Nadal (repeat that for n times)..." (j/k Mirkaland )
for me "GOOOOOOOOOOO ROGI ON CLAY!!! BRING ON RG!!!!!!!! What? This is Miami thread???"
for Ron "MIAMI, IW, MC, RG, I DON'T CARE!!! JUST BRING ME ROAST PIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
for Dirk "NINNNNNNNJJJJJJJJJAAAAAAAAAAA in Miami!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (just alternate Miami for any other tournaments in future)
or "Let's gooooooooo Rogi in Miami...boring? Fedtards forum, what you expect?"

Sorry Levin...yeah still lame

As long as some of the bullets you shot that strayed from their original target hit a wild pig or two, then there is hope for you yet!

Roger might not win USO but I don't see Nadal winning it either. I could see Safin or someone else nabbing it. Rafa has much to prove at USO. I don't see him winning 3/5 sets and 7 matches at USO.

Last year I would agree, but Nadal continues to improve on hardcourts and he will continue to improve on fast hardcourts. I wouldn't count him out just yet.

I wouldn't count anyone out. Rafa's not the only one improving either. I think it's way to early to tell who will be a contender for USO. Of course Roger will be the favorite (especially if he's still ranked #1) because he won it the past two years.

Re: ***The [insert witty comment here] Miami thread***

I know this has nothing to do with Miami, but I saw on the ATP website stats that Roger is 31st in break points converted. Granted, he probably has more break point opportunities than anyone else, but still it's an embarrasing stat. The stat that really surprised me is second serve points won - Roger is 1st. He really needs to work on his bp conversions though. It's pretty sad when the likes of Justin Gimlestob, Paul Goldstein, Florian Mayer and Jiri Vanek have a higher break point conversion than Roger does.

Interesting though how for some of these stats (especially return stats) the dominant players aren't leading the stats. For instance Nadal doesn't make the top ten on any of the return of serve stats. Roger's not in the top 5.

It's too early. Nadal will appear on return stats after the clay season and some guys will improve their serving stats on grass.

Re: ***The [insert witty comment here] Miami thread***

Someone on Roger's wesbite who saw him practice in Miami said this about his practice session:
Quote:
As soon as they reallly started to hit the ball, this was what it sounded like: "Oh". "Wooowww." "Uggg!" "Oh my God, did you see that?" "That's beautiful". "I can't believe that". It was like listening to about 150 people watching fireworks or something. I could not BELIEVE the places the ball was falling, the form, the wrist snap -- I would describe the majority of Roger's winners as "CASUALLLY IMPOSSIBLE". Because it takes you by surprise how much he can do with seemingly so little effort!

We know it is just an illusion - but why can no one else create ANY kind of illusion on the court?? About 3 different times, the ball was struck with such pristine technique and placement and bounced so insultingly out of reach that both Robredo and the crowd laughed out really loud.
I'm hopefull that this is a sign that he's feeling good and his game is 'on'. If Rogi continues to play like he did against Blake in IW I think he will go deep in this tournament.

Oh ok, I didn't realize it was three years.......... If you don't get paid , I'm assuming it's not a full time job and you're able to have another job that pays or you're able to go to school while fulfilling your committment?? Do you agree with your country's mandatory policy about service in the army?
