Forget about him?

Hi everyone,

Please, don't think I'm wanting to post this message to upset any one on here as I respect this forum, but my feelings of Roger are changing sadly. I mean in the last few months he's changed alot especially since the beginnning of this year. He's more tough out there and aggressive too. He seems to like to hang out with celebs more. I guess that's because they like tennis and he likes that they have a lot of money and are famous like him. It all gives him publicity and that's what he needs. I don't want to hate him at all as I do love him, but I'm so confused as he's going to get married to Mirka too at some point. My mom says just forget about him and stop worrying so much. He doesn't know me or care about me, which leads me onto another issue. Does he really care about his fans? Or is being nice to them another way to make money? Was it an IMG or Mirka thing to change the way he has?

Share your views on this. I needed to get this off my chest.

Sorry, guys

Re: Forget about him?

How can you say he's tougher or more aggressive ?
He's not changed that much for a number 1, all journalists and players say that. The only thing I regret is that he doesn't play DC, especially now that Wawrinka can help him. Otherwise Roger is still the same, quiet guy with tremendous talent and easy-going personnality

"I asked a bloke in the front row if he liked the serve-and-volley stuff," said Rafter. "He said he did but asked if he was going to get to see any rallies. 'Not today, mate,' I told him."

Re: Forget about him?

"Forget about him" is a pretty extreme thing- you shouldn't become obssessed by any stretch of the imagination but between taking a step back and switching off completely there is some ground in between.

I can personally say I enjoy watching Roger play for his tennis- as far as his social life, charities, firends etc go I really am not that interested by it. The one thing I also did notice in Roger's game that you have pointed out is that he does tend to try to overpower the opponent more than he had a couple of years ago where he was using spin and speed to maneuvre his opponenets around and then go for the kill. But he still can do that and I still enjoy watching him play.

My advice is this- I know it's easier said than done, but try to take a step back, just enjoy Roger for the tennis he brings to the court and try not to think about "does he really appreciate his fans" etc.

I totally agree.

Get a life, guys, we all have no clue about the REAL Roger, what we get is the picture the media present to us.

Simply forget talking obsessively about Roger for a while and just enjoy his tennis... No, he won't marry you...

Re: Forget about him?

Linda ... just remember what Roger said at the AO trophy ceremony ... "Without the fans it wouldn't be the same" ... so yes, I think he does know how important fans are to the game - and especially his own. If he reads some of the posts on his website (if he even has the time), I don't see how he could fail to be moved by all the love he has comng at him from all corners of the globe. And I suspect he has now reached such a level of fame that the celebs like to be seen with him and have their picture taken with him, rather than the other way round!

Re: Forget about him?

Firstly i would like to say that our Roger is all the same a huge bundle of talent when it comes to tennis. I dun think he will ever forget his roots and tennis is his first priority. When he struggled through tears in AO trophy ceremony it was evident that how much winning means to him and how hungry he is for more.In that aspect he will never change that is for sure.
Secondly about his social life..yeah once u r a celebrity there are certain things that needs to be taken care of...We cant say that he is doing all this for some publicity and money. He himself is quite famous and i dun think he needs to hang out with stars for publicity. Roger knows what is best for him, and will never go beyond his limits for money and publicity....So people take a deep breath and root for Roger..he will never disappoint you that is for sure.

Re: Forget about him?

Just accept that he stepped up into an other league - doesn't mean he'll forget where he comes from
