Connors-Borg-Federer

Last year Federer joined Borg and Connors as the only player to have won at least 5 titles on all surfaces.

Indoor/Hard
Outdoor/Hard
Clay
Grass

Another obscure thing that Federer has done.

Connors has at least 8 titles on all surfaces and Borg has 6.

If Federer wins one more clay tournament he will have won 6 on all surfaces and match Borg in that department.

Great as Connors was he won alot of very small tournament which didn't have anyone in the draw who had a hope in beating Connors.

Champions deserve whatever they win playing within the laws of the game

Thanks for confirming and all this info. It's very interesting, I'll be bold and say that Roger could make it seven this year for all surfaces

in fairness to connors, do you think anyone had a hope of beating federer in bangkok? Clearly, the depth is far greater now, but roger does win a few tournies where the competition isnt so threatening. Doha? Bangkok, Halle?

his most impressive wins are on clay at hamburg, where he beats gaudio, coria, and other clay maestros.

What about carpet? Is that considered hard surface?

Sure, I agree to a certain extent but even the weaker fields have greater quality than some of the tournaments Connors won.

Halle has Nadal, Nalbandian and Safin who pushed Federer alot last year. Doha has Gasquet, Haas and Grosjean. Bangkok has Safin, Gasquet, Haas.

They are not super strength fields but they are not weak.

Half of all of Connors's tourny wins were at events where nobody could even hit with him. The divided tour of the early and mid 70's made it easy for Connors to win a LOT of titles. He was still the best player in the world, but Roger has won nowhere near the amount of "little titles with nodoby playing" as Connors did.
