Smile Let's talk about Martina Hingis!

Please forgive me for opening this thread here that is related to neither Roger nor men's tennis. However, this thread is for some of you, my fellow Roger fans, who are also excited by Martina's come back.

Since her official announcement of her coming back to the professional tennis, Martina has been a hot topic for us. We showed our excitement about her going deep in this year's Australian Open.

Here is the place for you, fans of Roger and Martina. You can cheer for her here, post her pictures, etc etc if you like.

Let's talk about Martina!

SP

Roger, Chiudi, Stan the Man, Michi, Timea, Swiss guys and girls

good luck RF!!

Re: Let's talk about Martina Hingis!

I am so happy with Martina's comeback... Normally I don't like watching WTA tennis, but I love to watch her play, he science of the game, she has all shots, and I hope she'll be able to play the big girls in spite of her lack of power... I like to see her volleying too, which is so rare in women's tennis...

I heard Mats Wilander saying he thinks she could win slams again, but not before one year...

Good luck Martina

Re: Let's talk about Martina Hingis!

Martina Hingis is the only player in the WTA I have ever been interested in watching. She has an amazing tennis intelligense and she has an amazing aura around here when she is playing tennis, you can see she was born to play tennis and I always was so sad she had such a bad luck in the end of her career and ended it in such a terrible way.

Now, lets see if she can start a new Hingis era in the WTA, that would be a total surprise to all experts who constantly talks how womens tennis has developped the last years.

Prediction for the rest of the decade:
Federer winner: Usopen 05, 06, 07, 09 Aopen:06, 07, 10 Roland GArros:06, 08 Wimbledon:05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10 (Roddick always runner up)
Safin winner: Aopen 08 Gasquet winner: USopen 08, Aopen 09, RG: 10
Nadal winner: RG 07 Monfils winner: USopen 10
Guga winner: RG 2010
Roddick and Hewitt together winner of: 3 sidney, 4 Adelaide, 3 washington, 3 san jose, 3 indianapolis, 2 houston, 2 memphis, 5 queens and one master series title (where Safin, Agassi, Federer and Nadal happens to all be injured).

Re: Let's talk about Martina Hingis!

As everyone knows, Martina Hingis is by far my all-time favorite player, and it was a delight to see her back. Her style of play is unique, her finesse and court sense are fantastic and you can see she always builds her points, she has a plan right from the start. That's what I call a very smart player! She has shown she could still compete with the very best (lost to Kim 4-6 in the 3rd set), and even improve from this loss! So we're definitely looking forward to see her again this year, and all wish her the best! She's in the mixed doubles finals now, so she already has a chance to win a GS title, which would be her first mixed doubles crown of her career! GOOOOOOOOOOO Martinaaaaaaa and Mahesh!!!!!!!!

Re: Let's talk about Martina Hingis!

I think Martinas comeback was the best thing that could have happen to womens tennis right now!! Her style is sooooo different to all the powerhitters very much like Rogers in the mens tennis. Guess people only realised what a great, smart, witfull player she was when she was no longer around. And I'm sure she'll be able to compete with the best again. Sure she lost to Juju and Kim so far but with a bit of match praxis and a few more hours woring on that serve and she's right there again!! As for her doubles skills looks like she's lost nothing of it!!

Good luck in the final Martina (wish I could watch it somewhere....)

Re: Let's talk about Martina Hingis!

I adore Martina.
She always plays intelligent tennis.
So far, a terrific comeback and I look for more and more better things to come from her.

She is the only woman I watch full time.

Allez

Re: Let's talk about Martina Hingis!

I am really glad she is back. She brings something very different to the game. You know, I used to rather dislike Hingis earlier in her career, in particular for her comments on Mauresmo being 'half a man' in 1999, but since then she has matured as both a person and a player, and has gained my utmost respect.
