I am finally getting over that damn Master's Cup!!

It took Dirky awhile to get over that Cup which was full of bullshit situations but I think I am over the hump now, just don't talk to me about how David is now a MAJOR STAR AND ON THE A-List. I hope my Ninja is going to be 100% next year at Oz and he improves the few remaining things left to improve in career.

Re: I am finally getting over that damn Master's Cup!!

Hi Dirk! Welcome back. Roger's loss to Nadal hit me hard, but this one had no effect whatsoever. I only hope for a full physical recovery by the time the AO starts. Is it too much to ask?

Re: I am finally getting over that damn Master's Cup!!

Roger's done...
kidding ! That was painful to see him not at 100%, especially 3rd and 4th set, but he needs this kind of match to build his legend, all greats had painful defeats, ask Agassi or Sampras... A new season with so much to acomplish again, and still many challenges (back to AO, RG, grass/Wimby streak, DC, title defense, beating young guns). 2006 will be beautiful, NNNNNIIIIIIINNNNNJJJJJAAAAA ! Ouch, I mixed threads...

"I asked a bloke in the front row if he liked the serve-and-volley stuff," said Rafter. "He said he did but asked if he was going to get to see any rallies. 'Not today, mate,' I told him."

I don't have your courage. Watching my Ninja wilt away out there is torture for me. It was such a awful way for his streak to end but Roger being weaken is probably the only way he would have lost in a final.

Well, if anything I think that loss only added to the legend Federer is.

Besides, as much as I like David, the realistic gap betweep them when both are fit is more like the one that was displayed at this year's USO.

I agree with Skyward, watching him lose to that dumbass Nadal was much worse.

Re: I am finally getting over that damn Master's Cup!!

Glad you got over the loss now Dirk - somehow the loss was softened for me because I knew he would have kept that title if he had been match tight and 100% fit. Somehow I had more admiration for him trying to defend the title knowing that he himself hadn't expected to even reach the final. That takes true grit - and I'm immensely proud to be a fan of someone like that.

Oh that match was the pits. Roger hitting balls just a little out so many times and not S/Ving enough or coming to the net more during Nadal's serve. That was Roger at his tactical weakest since his USO 03 match with David.

Awww Dirky. I remember how crazy you were going during the match. You had many of us worried. Keep the Faith bro.

As mentionned before, Roger losing to Nadal really was 10X worse.

Let's pray Roger wins Oz or that Cup loss will sting even more.

Re: I am finally getting over that damn Master's Cup!!

First of all, glad you decided to join us again Dirk.

Second, I think you ar slightly exaggerating. From the middle of the 2nd set I immediately knew Roger was not at 100% and this match was David's for the taking. What shocked me is that David made such a meal of it and lost that 2nd set tiebreak when he shouldn't have and let roger off the hook at 4-0 in the fifth.

But don't worry, have a feeling Ninja will come back strong at Oz

By the way, anyone know what he is doing and where he is? (training, on holiday?)

Well he said he would begin training the middle of December (after his holiday), but he didn't say where. What bothers me a bit is I think he said in Shanghai he wouldn't be meeting up with Tony again until Kooyong, which I believe is after Doha, right? I'd like to see him spend more time with Tony, but Roger seems fine with things as the are....
