Re: Videos of Roger

url: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_LqhX7_W5g&fmt=18

Copy the bold bit (whatever is after the = [equal sign]), then add the youtube tags as follows:

[youtube*]9_LqhX7_W5g&fmt=18[*/youtube]

But don't inlcude the *

Like so:

Hope this helps.

Federer's behaviour is quite appalling...

Re: Videos of Roger

Federer is easily the greatest shotmaker of the last 20 years. Haven't seen enough of the older boys to go back any further but he is head and shoulders ahead of McEnroe, Sampras, Rios, Nadal, Korda, Gasquet, Agassi. Lethal forehand that turns defense into attack better than any other in history, insane passes on both sides, stunning improvisation. He does these things so often that his shotmaking doesn't always look like shotmaking but rather just rally strokes, because he does it with such regularity and makes it look so easy. The more i watch videos of various players though the more apparent it is that Federer is at the top of improv along with McEnroe and Rios and in terms of pure relentless shotmaking is a LOOONG way ahead of any other player over the last 20 years.

This video highlights some of his gifts.

And the technology debate isn't a good one when comparing to older players, when you consider how many more regular easy winners Federer just rattles off his racket from match to match in comparison with his peers.

Re: Videos of Roger

I'll make a prediction right now. I reckon it will be another 20 or so years before we see a shotmaker who we could even rightfully compare to Federer and maybe 40 or more before we have one who is arguably 'as good' or better.

Yeah, neither am I Just so awesome, the way it finally happened. And to think, the first time since I started watching tennis (admittedly, it's only been a few years) that we actually had free-to-air coverage of the French Open! So...very lucky, fateful timing for any still cable-less/slow-bandwith Aussie Roger fans to see/record him lifting the trophy after three years of sighing at a digital scoreboard. Hehe.

Thanks for watching! I was beginning to wonder when he'd hurry up and get to 14 so I could make a new vid and then he goes and does it at RG, no less That's our Roger!

Re: Videos of Roger

From dootsiez's blog: rare footage of Federer's training pre-Panganini, and oh, just pretend you didn't see the blond-haired episode.

rough translation for the linked video:

Roger says in the first part, that he thanks for all the welcome-speeches and things like this he will of course never forget. He says that you can count on him for parties anyway and hopefully there will be some more (..parties).

Robert says that it is really crazy, last year "they wrote Federer off", and then came Madrid and Paris and Wimbledon and now Roger has not 14 but 15 grand slams and that is super.

Roger says later - when asked where he's going to put the plate with the street name they gave him - that he has always a little problem with the space ( "platzprobleme") for his souvenirs because he has a lot of stuff like shoes etc, but he has a wall to put things on and he has a "Rogi-room" with all the trophies. This plate with the street name ("Spalenberg") is special to him because it is from his native country.
