Re: ********CINCINNATI MS*********

I think some of these rafa fans are more parinoid than any Roger fans. If someone doesn't Rafa somehow they're dissing his game and think Montreal is "the new clay" or something. I think they're just as sensitive - if not sometimes moreso - than Roger fans. Certainly there are people here who don't like Roger and cheer against his opponents when he's playing. And that seems to be perfectly fine. But boy if you don't drool all over Nadal then your're a Rafa hater or a Fed fan that's worried about Rafa becoming #1. It makes no sense. Everyone is entitled to have their favorite player, but it doesn't mean they hate other players. I mean just because Roger's my #1 guy doesn't mean I hate Rafa. But I'm not going to drool over him, just like I don't with most players on the tour.

True...but I don't think all the posters at GM are necessarily Nadal finatics. Isn't there room for something else to talk about?

The big news in tennis this wk. is that Mathieu has Grosjean's old coach & may be on his way up to the Top 10. Might be fun. Hope Roger plays him soon. The French are really taking off in tennis! Go Paris - that's great. If only they'd take similar pride in Baghdatis whom they've groomed un Olympic Dev. Prog., and fork out bucks for him to have his own coach. (I want more Roger-Baghdatis matches - they were fun.)
From the little I was able to see Mathieu is much improved and certainly looks like he will become top 10 material. Recently I think Gasquet became the top ranked French player.....but now I wonder if Mathieu will over take Gasquet? Seeing Roger play any of them would be fun....but of course I want Roger to beat them!

Roger Forever !

I think if people want to have only one sided debates and lots of drooling over thier favorite then they should be posting in that player's separate area. I mean here we Roger fans know we can obsess about Roger and we don't expect to hear much criticism of him. They can have that too but not in a GM area. Don't people realize that it's open season to say pros and cons about anyone in the GM?

Roger Forever !

Ditto, I really like Rafa but I think Baghdatis and Gasquet are the 2 most exciting young players out there. Then again I love flashy players more than anything else, I guess that is why I love me some Federer. I have tried avoiding any if all Roger threads on GM, I have been so mad these last few days with work and everything else. However my dear Mathieu gave me a whole heap to cheer about this week.

Anyway, I just changed my siggy for Cincy, allez Roger, allez

Pam, considering it by way of analogy - this is the MTF Wine Bar; the rest of MTF is the BudBar!! But you raise an interesting question. Maybe you'd want to start a new thread here - along the lines of "Other Interesting Matches/Players we've enjoyed". That would allow us to could discuss others as we see them while maintaining the unique character we've developed here.

The main culprit is fummy. He tries to bag roger's personality because he cannot bag his game. The "real" nadal fans are quite nice to talk to actually, they know what nadal is capable of but are aware he has a long ways to go before reaching federer.

The rest of the others just dont like federer because he beats their faves so consistently that they have to vent their frustration at someone.

its not that he is an andy or rafa fan, its just he is anti-federer. He was an andy fan and then suddenly became a nadal fan because it was convenient(he actually could challenge federer).

There are fans of rafa, and andy who dont mind federer that much at all. Devid comes to mind as an ardent rafa supporter but still staying grounded with rafa's achievements.

I think some people are overreacting to the nadal federer matchup. The problems nadal presents players are no different to the ones that he presents federer. It's not like nadal is suddenly federer's nemesis. The h-h is 2-1. Still too early.

All I know is I said that I thought Rafa had an easy draw so he should be in the finals and somehow that was interpreted/twisted into that I think Roger is god, Rafa's no good and Montreal is a slow hard court/the new clay. No where did I ever mention the court/conditions or Roger. I think what some non-Fed fans complain about they're sometimes guilty of themselves. And since Roger's been "off the reservation" for 6 weeks or so it's not like GM has been flooded with posts about Roger and how wonderful he is, what a god he is, ect. Bottom line is right now in GM it's ok to drool and marvel over Rafa, but with Roger you need to be quiet or temper that praise, lest someone think you're being too boastful or annoying. Because of course the only annoying fans are Fed fans.

Rafa is the "in kid"...its the recency effect at its best. He's doing well, so he's the talk of MTF, while fed is somewhere getting a massage from mirka. What i don't like is how everyone is trying to compare the two as if nadal is on federer's level, which i disagree with. Nadal still has to show us some "stuff" and make his arrival on non-clay surfaces official
