You mean on TV? I have to check out, but I doubt it... Maybe when he reaches the final... They had the live coverage from Miami final and Hamburg final.

Oh well, I cant wait to see Rogi back in action, I miss him a lot which is weird because I dont really know the man
Lately I have been seeing GM with several threads and/or comments with the purpose of bashing Roger and then if I politely point out the folly in their logic I am told to shut up because it doesn't really matter. Well.....then way all the bashing if it doesn't matter? I am sure if I posted something similar about Nadal his fans would want to say something to point out that I was incorrect. I am finding it weird. I mean....the comments are outright attempts to annoy but yet I don't see that Roger fans are provoking that or setting up the same kind of traps for Nadal fans.

How can you say that Roger matches up badly to Nadal this early? They've only played 3 times and the one time on clay was of course Nadal's advantage surface. I would rather wait and see how the next 5 or so meetings go. I can take heart in that in the past Roger has conquered all of his nemesis opponents and turned around losing records. I guess the unfortunate thing is that Roger has the foot condition pricisely when he would need to run a little faster to keep up with Nadal. There's got to be some strategy for Roger to counteract what every Nadal does.

Go Roger!

It's all about Nadal right now anyway. Seems to be a double standard though as I don't see many people (if any at all) complaining about all the Rafa gushing over there. But yet a few Fed fans are a bit obnoxious (sometimes baited by others) and we're told to be quiet and shut up?
That is precisely what I have thought lately. It wasn't always this way. In the beginning I thought MTF was quite a nice place....but now there is a double standard where by it's open season to post ridiculous stuff about Roger and then call any of Roger's fans overly sensitive for bothering to respond. I hope you guys don't think I am one of the obnoxious Roger fans. I did get sucked into giving my opposing point of view in that Charisma thread, however I didn't bash Nadal in the process or flame any other poster. I hadn't realized that the whole thing was baiting to start with. But the principal of the thing annoys me.....to be told to shut up when all I wanted to do was to point out that NO NOT EVERYONE loves Nadal, or thinks he has charisma while Roger has none. If it's all based on opinion then what's wrong with hearing everyone's opinion?

You are right that we should ignore this and try to focus on better discussions.....but if that stuff doesn't stop, then I think we should unite and flood those baiting threads out of business.

You make some good points Dirk. Another thing I notice is that among the tennis world elite many have said Roger appears to be the best player of all time....just based on how he plays and what he has been able to do. No one has ever said that of Nadal. They do make the comparison that as Nadal has risen at such a young age is his like Becker or some others. Still I think I get nervous about Roger because I think he is that good....but if injury gets in the way it could stop him and we wouldn't see his full potential.

Re: ********CINCINNATI MS*********

I just get tired of all these Roger vs. Rafa threads - especially in GM. It's always got to be a competition between the two - who has more charisma, who looks better, who's a better soccer player. It's almost like to bring one up the other has to be torn down. It's obvious to me that here on MTF there are a lot of Rafa fans (or anti-Fed fans) who would love nothing more than to see him dethrone Roger and take over #1. It's best to ignore it (I know it's hard sometimes) unless there is a civilized and thoughtful discussion going on. I think it's a bit hypocritical though because no one seems to be complaining about the Rafa love fest here (especially in GM), yet they have no problem complaining about Fed fans and their gushing. The only comforting thought is knowing MTF is not representative of tennis fans in general. I mean most fans probably wouldn't get into a silly argument over who has more charisma Roger or Rafa and then turn it into a debate on Roger's sex life. That is really amaturish and childish stuff.

I agree w/you, Pam. I rarely stop there, other than to see draws, but after this discussion I stopped by. Seems to be degenerating into the usual garbage of American male corporate jock sniffer culture - anything goes as long as it's vapid & designed to get an argument going. Yawnnn.............

It is only a matter of time before they have enough of Nadal too and start hating him. Popularity and succes comes with a lots of haters too. If Roger weren't as successful, there won't be that much bashing thread. It seems to me that Rafa vs Roger is the new Andy vs Roger which is pathetic.

I have noticed a definite weirdness this week that wasn't there before. I am relatively new to this site, so I can't say for sure but I don't think Fed Fans should feel they can't post on at the GM or that they should just let the Rafa fans take that over. I think the reason for ever posting in the GM is to get a broader view and enjoy more variety of topics, so I would like to post in both places. Maybe we should occassionally start a neutral thread in GM just to attempt to keep it as a neutral area? Or is GM going to become the place for crackpots?

Good points Mirkaland. Yes, I did end up realizing that many of those in that thread might have been young teenagers so that would explain the immature statements and comparisons.

Re: ********CINCINNATI MS*********

Pam, NOTHING to be said to people who don't get Roger - any more than there would have been to basketball enthusiasts who trashed Jordan. Every domain has it's idiots period. (Thuggy is the kind of player to draw the worst sort of fans anyway - in addition to normal tennis people - unlike anyone else I can think of.)

The big news in tennis this wk. is that Mathieu has Grosjean's old coach & may be on his way up to the Top 10. Might be fun. Hope Roger plays him soon. The French are really taking off in tennis! Go Paris - that's great. If only they'd take similar pride in Baghdatis whom they've groomed un Olympic Dev. Prog., and fork out bucks for him to have his own coach. (I want more Roger-Baghdatis matches - they were fun.)
