Re: The Federer Fan Introduction Thread

all Rogi fans!

I guess it's time I checked out this thread and introduced myself altho a lot of people here know me fr other boards.

I first noticed the young Rogi when he lost to another fave of mine, Alex Corretja at QF RG01, then I went back to look at a match of my fave Aussie Pat Rafter fr Miami01, where he also beat the young Rogi. Since then, I was hooked! Not always the easiest following Rogi for a couple of years but he gradually matured and progressed to the champion that he is today!

Interesting to note that a lot of Rogi fans also liked Pat Rafter... 2 classy guys on and off the court.

Nice to see fans fr all over the world, all ages and backgrounds, which proves that Rogi is not just some teenie idol-type of guy...

Even though I live in the wrong part of the world imo, I've had the good fortune to see Rogi live three times!

My ambition is to see Rogi play on grass and on clay and perhaps at home in Switzerland!

HEY THERE!!!!
I'm Sue from Neverland!(hehe...where i can meet Roger everyday!!!)I am a cute girl!
I'm 15 going on 16 next Thursday, hope u guys celebrate with me!!!!!!!!!

I know Roger when i am young, it's around 1999.I saw his picture on a magazine, and he's cute!!But at first, i dun know much about him as Sampras, Agassi, and many other players are so famous and talented at THAT MOMENT.

But i start to support and go for him when i am at about late 2000 until now and forever. I most definitely look at him as my one and only truly idolize player is when he wins over a 5 sets match against Pete Sampras.

Roger Federer SAID BEFORE:" IF U WANNA BE THE BEST, U GOTTA BEAT THE BEST!"

It doesn't suprise me though.

True, Fedex, makes sense that Rogi fans also like Pat... shows our good taste!

Will you be going to any tourneys next year?

Re: The Federer Fan Introduction Thread

I'm Raquel, I'm 20 from Glasgow in Scotland but have lived in London for over 4 years now and first saw Roger on TV at the old London Indoor event in 2000 and have been lucky enough to see him twice live at Wimbledon. I say lucky as he is always on the big courts now but I did get to see his QF last year as it was put on Court 2 because of rain the day before, so I was happy it rained at Wimbledon for once!

And yes I loved Pat Rafter too. I *really* wanted him to win Wimbledon but he will always have such classic matches there - the two Agassi semi finals and of course the Goran final

Yes, it's true and Rafter is a good example of a classy human being who managed to succeed he had his problems, and it's good that Rogi is compared to him in the personality stakes.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Me? That depends. If I do, sadly any tournement that I go to, will probably only be in the states, and no international tournements for me, next year.

Re: The Federer Fan Introduction Thread

I belong to the group of middle aged ladies I have been following tennis since the mid eighties. My favourites were Stefan Edberg, Miloslav Mecir, Evgenij Kafelnikov (yeah, I know strange, but that's how it is) and the adorable Pete Sampras. I somehow lost touch when Pete Sampras retired and Marat Safin did not really get going.

Then Roger won Wimbledon in 2003 (I did not see it) and everybody talked about him. I was not convinced and decided to have a look myself. After I saw him playing and winning the tourney in Vienna, Austria, where I live, in October 2003, I became a complete convert. Since then, I followed his career closely. Tennis regained style, beauty and my interest. But I do like other players as well.

I use the pseudonym Puschkin, because I love reading and I have a soft spot for Russian culture.
