Yes, I am a Norwegian through and through. Four Norwegian grandparents, never lived anywhere else. I learned the language from my Mother, who - before I came along - lived a couple of years in England. She was a language teacher. I guess a little rubbed off on me.

A bagel it turned out to be. Poor Stan....but great for Roger, we used enough energy already.

Wow - I'm truly impressed. You don't just "speak" the language - you're amazingly comfortable in it. If you ever get stuck for a change of career, I'd suggest UN translator

Re: Shattering Shenanigans in Shanghai!

I had to leave for work and missed the 3rd set. What happened? I mean it's not surprising that Stan's level dropped and all that... but 6-0?? Only winning 5 points in the whole set?

Roger really didn't play well in the first two sets. His return of serve on Stan's 2nd serve was just .
Hope he's feeling okay and will play better the next match. Was there much improvement in the 3rd set, or was it all down to Stan's melting down?

I made the prediction then that Federer could surpass McEnroe. He needs to go 6-3 to do just that, having one more win than he, and one less loss.

You are too kind! My mother actually wanted to work as a UN translator, but never got the job, settling for a career as language teacher (not just English, also French, German and Spanish). When she didn't get it I'm quite sure I wouldn't either, I do not have her flair for languages. But thanks for the encouragement
