Sorry, 1 and 2, and then from 16 on down. That's an interesting career arc.

Re: Fed stats - with most weeks in top-2, 3, 5 and 10

Looking at the numbers, he's a year away from Agassi, in the top 100.

Connors doesn't get enough respect. He really doesn't.

Re: Fed stats - with most weeks in top-2, 3, 5 and 10

Fed needs 71 weeks in the top 10 to pass Connors. His clock starts again, although he hasn't yet gotten close enough to start the 52 week chase. Still building points and times for the challenge.

Connors was amazing. Don't forget that in his era it was uncommon to play past 30, so he was truly one of a kind. I've always had great respect for him, even if I didn't approve of his court antics.

Re: Fed stats - with most weeks in top-2, 3, 5 and 10

Fed this week ties Agassi for most total weeks in the top-10 and now only Connors is ahead.

Re: Fed stats - with most weeks in top-2, 3, 5 and 10

I hope to see Federer top 8 seeded in both Indian Wells & Miami.

With Tsonga defeating Goffin in the Rotterdam final today, and Thiem having a lot of points to defend next week, the chances of Federer claiming the nr 8 spot in time looks promising, or at least possible.

I think Thiem has to win in Rio to stay top 8 right? Goffin, Dimitrov & Berdych are not playing next week, so the possible contenders for the number 8 spot is Tsonga and Monfils who are playing in Marseille. I'm not sure though what results they need to pass Federer.

Re: Fed stats - with most weeks in top-2, 3, 5 and 10

i know this thread is "most weeks", but thought I'd seek confirmation here from @Litotes or @JediFed . Read somewhere that Fed has now won more matches than the number of matches any current person (Ferrer) has played

If that's right, I know it's not a marquee stat like most slams, most weeks at no. 1 etc, but it is darned impressive!

Has been true for awhile. Ferrer only has 1033 matches played.

Re: Fed stats - with most weeks in top-2, 3, 5 and 10

I finally updated my numbers, my sources are Slasher from 1973 until 1983. I use the unofficial updated he did for the first part of 1984. Since June 1984 until today my source is the ATP. I have some diffs with your total numbers. It's going to be a little long post I guess.

Thanks Bryan. I haven't had opportunity to update the numbers with Slasher's ranking lists as long as he's come, that will account for the differences. Hope to have time and energy to look into it soon

If that's right, I know it's not a marquee stat like most slams, most weeks at no. 1 etc, but it is darned impressive!

Yep, it has been true a while.

There are only eight players credited with playing more matches than Fed has won. Three of those are pre Open Era. The ones who are not are Connors, Lendl, Vilas and Agassi.

This is amazing. I wonder if that has been done before. Probably Rosewall right after Laver retired.
