Re: ROLAND GARROS 2012: The Quest for lost Treasure

Meh... A bad match from Roger.
Federror in all aspects.

But I think it was Routinerer and Relaxerer in here. He played relaxed and with the upcoming matches on his head. A win is a win. The tournament starts in the QFs.

It would be a really big surprise if Federer loses a set before QFs. Now, when he gets to that match (probably vs Berdych), the real thing will begin.

The good thing about this pre-QF matches, are that the match could be low-quality, but there are always 3 peRFect points you can record and show them to your grandkids... Today Fed was UE after UE but he made so many beautiful winners I want to see in the highlights.

I'd far rather have the Nole Slam. If it weren't for Djokovic Nadal would probably be on l3 slams already, with a Rafa Slam, & hot favourite to win 14 & 15 at this year's R.G. & Wimbledon. For preventing that hideous nightmare scenario Djoker deserves the Nole Slam.

It's an impressive achievement for sure. Wins at slams begin to dwindle down as a player approaches 28, 29, but Fed has kept on winning at all the slams. Agassi probably could have won 50 at each had he played the Australian Open and Wimbledon in his earlier years as could have Borg had he played the Australian Open and played longer, and of course Connors had he played RG and the AO more often.

JediFed -- here's a stat for you: Federer has the most straight set wins in Grand Slam history (166). In fact, only a few players have more overall Slam victories than Federer has straight set slam victories:

Overall Slam Victories:

Connors: 232 (according to the ATP site)
Agassi: 224
Lendl: 222
Sampras: 203
Edberg: 178
McEnroe: 167
____________
Becker: 163
Wilander: 144
Hewitt: 138
Vilas: 137

Now how can I put this so I won't offend anyone.

Negatively: GARBAGE. Tons of stupid errors. Allowed his opponent to even break him three times, and managed to even get broken when serving for the match.

Positively: a typical first-round Fed match, took it as a fine practice knowing that he'd win even in 30%-mode.

Your choice.

Re: ROLAND GARROS 2012: The Quest for lost Treasure

I reckon RF can get to 70 wins at all Slams. Yeah, I'm optimistic like that. Also, 6 MPs needed .

Re: ROLAND GARROS 2012: The Quest for lost Treasure

Well, I took the positives out of the negatives ... in that everytime he got broken, he broke back straight away. Maybe having 6 MPs was a bit too much but he got there in the end. Having seen him nearly go out in the first round at Wimbledon a couple of years back, this match was a breeze in comparison!

Yep. Rog is still doing mighty fine, considering his age and mileage, and I agree, he'll most certainly pick up from here.
