Re: ROLAND GARROS 2012: The Quest for lost Treasure

I think his first two matches were on Lenglen last year too although I don't remember it, anyway never mind it's only R1

Will Federer regain the #1 spot and break Sampras's record for most weeks at the top?

Roger // Rafa // Raonic // Söderling // Goffin // Ivo // Wawrinka // Baker // Delpo

I don't understand the RG organizers, Simon on Chatrier and Federer on Lenglen.
It's not like it never happened before...
So what? As long as he just wins his matches!

Re: ROLAND GARROS 2012: The Quest for lost Treasure

Since RF will probably play David in R2 and he's playing together with Novak on the same day, I reckon they'll reverse the roles on Wednesday (as RF will hopefully win tomorrow).

Re: ROLAND GARROS 2012: The Quest for lost Treasure

^^ Quite probable.
BTW, I've seen several claims from the past that the SL-court is faster than PC.
So if anything it will benefit Roger.

Re: ROLAND GARROS 2012: The Quest for lost Treasure

SL has less space for maneuver as opposed to PC so that gives a slight advantage to good servers. However, it is known to be slower than PC as Roddick does not like playing there.

Okay.

Well, does Mr. Duck like playing anywhere on whatever clay court?

Here in this forum some prefer Djokovic like me, some others prefer Nadal, I don't know if that many ones dislike both of them like you

PS : if Fed had been seeded 2, he might have drawn Nadal in semi, it would have been worse
it's possible to intensely dislike both, trust me

Some people just don't get that ever."

My actual real worry for Federer is more about the scheduling however. As shanks mentioned, Federer was tired after Madrid which was after a six week break. Now from here to Wimbledon (the main goal), he will be playing RG, hopefully up to at least the semis, then immediately Halle (which he has to play this year) and then Wimbledon after a weeks break.

Irrespective of the above, RG will be interesting for sure this year. And as said previously, I'm actually quite optimistic about RG and SW19.
nah, RG will be predictable, esp if the balls are slower than last year... and then olympics, i don't care about it at all but since Fed clearly wants gold, i guess i'll be watching haha... hope he can pace himself well, scheduling is insane

These early round matches are hard to watch. roger clearly doing no more than he has to to get the win.

Does never watching a RN/ND final count as "intensely dislike"?

Re: ROLAND GARROS 2012: The Quest for lost Treasure

Was a below par performance from Roger today, especially on the UE error count. On the other hand I liked the way he was striking the ball and he played a few good shots. All in all was a decent match practice for Roger.

Re: ROLAND GARROS 2012: The Quest for lost Treasure

Just 5 away now from Ivan's record of 40 consecutive first round slam wins. Roger has 35. First man to get 50 in all the slams. Ties Connors for second - who has 35 consecutive. Still chasing Connor's 34/35 QFs. (Roger has 31/32, broken up by Kuerten back in 2004.

Federer - Emperor of the Slams, King of Hard, Lord of the Australian Open, Lord of Wimbledon.
