How will Roger's form be in Madrid? Expectations?

Does anyone know what has he been doing over the past 3-4 weeks? On vacation with fat Mirka?

I got tickets to the QFs and SFs and I really hope he doesn't blow out in the early rounds because he hasn't played Tennis in over a month after losing to Roddick.

He basically has no chance to be No. 2 before RG now and if he cared that much about Tennis he would've played at Monte Carlo.

Why is Roger in such a bad funk right now? He is acting like he doesn't care about the rest of the season.

Roger is obviously preparing himself for the grass court season, i think he doesn't want to overplay on clay in order to be in better condition come Wimbledon and Olympics time, which are the 2 of the most important tournaments of the season for him. Not to mention that this is an Olympic year and it's going to be a really heavy schuduled summer all the way to US Open for him...

But what are his chances at Madrid? Really hope he doesn't lose to Almagro or someone R3. Kills his points and wrecks his clay season.

I think his chances are pretty good, he loves the tournament and has done pretty well there historically, the clay is pretty fast in Madrid and it obviously favours Roger.

I don't expect to see him in Soliderer mode. Or he will be looking great or awful. Huge stake on first two Madrid's appearance. Rome is a week after so you can expect anything drastically better and then going in Paris with 2-3 clay court matches can't be good. That's why taking 6 weeks off was huge decision. Hope for the best...

He will meet Raonic / Nalbandian in his 1st match
If this would be his 2nd clay court tournament now, I'd be quite relaxed and say that this is indeed tough but a good test anyway. But this is his first tournament in 6 weeks or so and we all know how he played in his first matches in Basel after he had a similar long break (had to play a tiebreak vs Starace and lost a set to Nieminen)...

Edit: full draw

very very hard, expecting NOTHING from Roger this tournament

Federer |Söderling |most of the Germans

I also like: Wawrinka | Tsonga | Dimitrov | Isner | Gulbis |

Warm regards: 6-3 6-0 / 6-3 6-4

Very true. Its a busy year in 2012. He wants to peak for Wimbly, Olympics & US Open. I do not think he is thinking about the clay court season & French Open too much. I am sure he will give a good showing and try to reach semis at the French Open. He is coming after long gap so we should not get too excited about his form. He may take couple of tournaments to get back in the groove, especially on clay. Stopping Novak from winning 4th slam in a row (which Rogi hasn't done) might be a good motivation factor for Rogi
