I too hope Federer doesn't pull out since with such an exodus of top players it leaves the field wide open for Agassi to sweep through, but from a partisan British perspective I am already chuckling at the thought of Henman being top seed at a TMS event. Try to live up to the seeding and win a match here for the first time, eh Tim?
There is no reason for Henman not to do well here, especially with all the top players out of the tournement. This surface is great for Henman's game, so if he loses early again, its all mental. He should do very well here, until he meets Agassi.

Quite unlikely for Henman to miss out TMC this year, isnt' it? Why not Federer-Henman in Paris but Basel? And who will you be cheering for if that happens?
He deserved to be booed. I saw that match, and despite playing a good 1st set, he totally tanked the 2nd set. They also booed Roddick in his semi with Henman, so I forgave them anyway.

Re: Rogi Fed in TMS Madrid!

it was rather amusing how Tim managed to frustrate each of his opponents, fr Rogi to Pandy to Pavel... they all ended up throwing their racquet in disgust!

I hope Rogi pulls out of Paris too... and Juanqui, Marat, Rafa... all my faves -- then I won't miss anything good!!

Re: Rogi Fed in TMS Madrid!

OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO was my first reaction >.< when i found out i wanted to cry.. im SOOO SAD and dissapointed...
>.< i cant believe it!!!! looking forward for this so much and rogi pulls out!!! YYY on earth!!!!! it was SUCH A GOOD CHANCE to grab another title since roddick, moya and hewitt were out!!!! y leave now!!!!
im sorry but i think its stupid to pull out for "unknown" reasons, just to follow the others who "jumped from the bridge"... Im sorry but those unreveiled reasons just WONT DO! It would make 100000000 times more sense to pull out of PARIS!!! cuz its before TMC, plus his chances wont be as high in it cuz not so many top seeds pulled out!!!

now chances are almost ruined for: best win-loss record of the season and recent times, 12 titles in a year, THE FIRST MAN TO WIN 4 ATP events in a year (paris.. for the above reason)...

Madrid... such a good change to get one step closer to making more history... (plus the first time it will be a REAL record solely for him.. 4 atp events)

i feel sorry for the tourney organizers... (they even make drawings of them.. more than half are useless now!) reaaalllyyy sorry...

lina_seta, a few minutes ago on the Spanish tournament site they said he had pulled out~~for personal reasons as well as being mentally and physically fatigued for the past few weeks.

This is probably true.

There was no reason given on the English site.

Allez

Re: Rogi Fed in TMS Madrid!

Yep, I love seeing Pavel get frustrated, it's a riot! He's v emotional...

I think everyone s skip out of Paris... who needs it! ha ha... the lesser players can play it to catch up on points

imo, Roger would take a title win in his home city over the above records.

Re: Rogi Fed in TMS Madrid!

I´m disapointed too,
but he has to do what´s best for him and he is the only person to know - we can´t!

Maybe Mirka needs to clean out the closetes at there flat and she needs him to get the stuff down from the higher shelfs, who knows?

I want him to enjoy playing tennis. He travles all year long, let him enjoy his time at home
And he has to win Basel now - no kidding!

I must have missed it too. Did he do it in the second set tie-break by any chance? I was actually at the match but was hiding in the bathroom for the end of that set

Re: Rogi Fed in TMS Madrid!

Arern´t you all glad by now that, he decided not to play Madrid?

Those "ballgirls" - simply tastless, this is tennis, have some class for heavens sake!!

(I wouldn´t be suprised,if Roger told them, that he would´nt be back,if they decided to do that stunt again)
