I think Roger pretty much said that the break happened because they were too close, been together for too long, and tried to gently say that he heard all Peter had to say and that he needed some new perspective.
I think that Peter ended up being too much of a friend and less his coach, and Roger needed something less comfortable.
I mean, how many coaches cry when their charge win a title? Peter was crying in Hamburg 2002 (and it was the only time I've seen Roger, other than *this year* in Hamburg, come to share a hug with his team after an important win), and he was crying worse than Roger and Mirka in Wimby 2003
. The affection there was obviously very great, but maybe Roger felt it was too easy, and wasn't challanging enough.
