5 or more finals at each Slam, that is incredible. Laver and Rosewall have 3. In the open are, Lendl and Agassi have 2.

Yes an update is really needed. *wink*

Today, Federer finally beat Lendl's 4R streak record with his 29th consecutive 4R. Of course he also extended his consecutive records for 2R and 3R, to 33. Lendl has a rough day, since his 222 slam wins is also tied. 2 more match wins for Agassi's 224.

Connors has either 232 or 233, not completely sure. Federer could get there this year.

Re: There is no finish line...

Bump:

Still chasing Lendl's consecutive 4th rounds for slams entered (34). Which is probably his most remarkable record, other than the 8 straight finals at the USO.

With a win Federer will have 30 straight 4th rounds, going back to his loss against Guga.

He's also chasing Connor's 34/35 slam QFs. Fed has 31/32. There's not a better measure of slam longevity and excellence in the history of Tennis, ever. He would need a QF here at the USO, the Australian Open next year and the French next year as well.

I think that's really it. There's no other consecutive records besides slams entered, and the really longterm ones like consecutive years in the top 5 and top 10.

Re: There is no finish line...

Consecutive weeks top 5 and top 10:

Top 10:

1. Jimmy Connors 15 years 02 months
2. Ivan Lendl 12 years 04 months
3. Pete Sampras 10 years 10 months
4. Stefan Edberg 09 years 06 months
5. Roger Federer 08 years 10 months

Top 5:

1. Jimmy Connors 12 years 07 months
2. Ivan Lendl 10 years 00 months
3. Roger Federer 8 years 05 months

Fed's beaten Edberg, but still has about another solid year to pass Sampras as the longest consecutive top 10 streak in the ATP tour era. Sampras! Always Sampras!

Really no more hills to climb left in the top 5 list. All that's left is Lendl and Connors. He has a good shot of passing Lendl.

Re: There is no finish line...

Sorry everyone I have been very busy but I promise an update will be coming at the conclusion of the US Open.

Federer's victory in the 3rd round over steers him clear of Agassi on the all-time list of matches won at Grand Slam tournaments. As of today he has 225 wins, just a little shy of Connors who has 233 (to answer the questions above).

Re: There is no finish line...

With today's straight sets victory against Tsonga at the finals in Bercy, he ties Agassi's record of having won 7 of the 9 Masters events and in so doing also beats Andre for the most tournaments won on hardcourts in the Open Era (Roger now was 47 to his name). Talking about Agassi, the two of them are the only ones to have done the "Parisian Double" by winning both at Roland Garros and Bercy.

He also moves up to 69 career titles and 802 tour level match wins. Currently he is 1 Masters 1000 tournament win away from Nadal's record of 19.

Thanks for the update.
