Re: o.O* Back to Hardcourts! - Rogers Cup: Montreal 2009 *O.o

Question: How old should my infant be before I take him on an airplane? I am due in a month and would like to visit family for the holidays.

Answer: Assuming that both mother and baby are healthy, you can travel at two weeks of age. In some cases you can fly even sooner than this, but I would recommend holding off if it is not absolutely necessary.

From one of the montreal papers. Sounds promising. Usually Roger is suckage in practice sessions.

Federer seemed in extremely high spirits. He was tanned - no telltale bags of late nights with the newborns under his eyes.

He looked scary fit, too. And, as always, impeccably turned out. The bright blue bandanna and wristbands likely are (as a very enamoured fan sitting next to me pointed out) probably a precursor of what he's going to wear during the U.S. summer hard-court season.

It took him about five swipes of the ball to hit his groove - in stark contrast to the rusty Rafa the previous day. His agent told tournament director Eugene Lapierre that Fed had been training a lot, and that he'd never seen him look sharper.

That can be agent talk, of course. You wouldn't want his rivals to think they had gained any kind of an edge, with Fed being a new father and all. But certainly that's what it looked like tonight.

I can't open the pdf of the Montreal draw for the singles tournament, but all other pdfs are working

Who is Roger's first opponent in the tournament?

It will be really interesting to see how Roger is going to perform with the new circumstances in his life.

Roger's first match will be against either Niemeyer or Kunitsyn.

i hope he plays doubles to take care of rustiness
we don't want another Tsonga or Cilic episode even if we know he can just step on court and whoop serious time and 5 minutes

Re: o.O* Back to Hardcourts! - Rogers Cup: Montreal 2009 *O.o

In this NY Times interview with Roger there was this:

Quote:
Many factors have contributed to Federers midseason resurgence: a healthy back, Rafael Nadals struggles and perhaps the slight increase in mobility that came when Federer dropped nearly 10 pounds from March to May.
First time I've heard of Roger shedding some pounds this year....

And from that Montreal blog posting: 'Federer seemed in extremely high spirits. He was tanned - no telltale bags of late nights with the newborns under his eyes. He looked scary fit, too.'

I must admit I'm a bit nervous about this HC season as the one earlier this year was not great. So I'll take anything I can get as hopefully a positive sign.

Yes maybe Fed finally got rid of that little belly he was developing

also worried abut HC season again, remember what he said after Miami, plus... stats... he's won only 2 outdoor HC titles in last 2 years - 2 US Opens.

They are the only ones that really matter though, any others would be nice but the US Open is the only one that truly matters if you ask me. If he repeats his HC form from the last few years again this year & "only" comes away with the US Open trophy then I'll consider that an excellent HC season's play

could federer have a renaissance of sorts now? a new career? a new period of domination? unlikely but not out of the question...not for federer.

I'd be fine with him keeping up that streak

It would be pretty hilarious (and amazing) if he had another uber crappy hard court season all year and then won the USO

I think it's possible he could have a period of a new kind of domination, not quite like his domination over pretty much everyone on every surface earlier in his career but maybe a really hard fought, perhaps not playing as utterly sublimely all the time as before kind of domination. Kind of like how he won RG this year whilst not actually playing his best 100% of the time, I've noticed he's been toughing out quite a few matches in the last year or so, obviously losing some to the other top players but sometimes having matches which he wins from being 2 sets down & not playing great but still winning...I could see him perhaps winning quite a few slams like this over the next few years & having a kind of domination like that. Obviously maybe not winning everything & beating everyone all the time but still a kind of toughing it out domination where his will power & mental strength wins it for him as opposed to just pure tennis skill on it's own. But that's all just wild speculation/imagination on my part, who knows what's going to happen next!
