That is still hanging in the air, I feel, even if the guys on the ATP stream are awfully biased for Roddick.

I'll agree about Monte Carlo but I still think this outing at Montreal has been ok overall for him & probably a good thing. He's got back into the swing of being on tour now with the babies etc & how all that affects him during a tournament, he's got that 1st match back done & the 1st win (and also 1st loss since his return) out of the way. He's had a few more matches to see where his game is at, find things to work on for the USO, got used to being on HC again, got some ranking points. All in all I'd say it was ok, better than turning up at the USO under-prepared or something.

Roger Checking out Murray - Denko before the match. Why, why? Probably put him half to sleep
That third set lead he blew was just embarrassing to watch

Now, go play with your 15 slams and the twins, but just turn up fully charged at the USO

He probably wasn't in the right frame of mind to play here, but his overall game wasn't all that bad in Canada compared with Monte Carlo where he couldn't even hit the ball. He played 3 sets before being threatened on serve so that's a positive.

Not me ... if Roger can live with this loss, then so can I. I never expected him to win in Montreal anymore than I expected Nadal to do so so no surprise to read this morning here that JMDP beat him.

Some people make because its like the French and Wimbledon never happened. If Roger never wins another title this year, this is still a fantastic achievement and no one should lose sight of that.

I was for the way he blew his 5-1 lead in the third set. But better here than at RG or Wimby, right?
Besides, I never expected him to play Montreal let alone win it He picked up some points, got a little match practice which is good in case he loses early at Cinci, so all in all a pretty OK tourney. Besides, even if he doesn't win a single match for the rest of the season, I for one would still be thrilled with the last 2-3 months.

Any year where a player wins a GS is a good year. For Roger to have won RG and Wimbledon makes it a great year even if he fails to win another match the entire season. Though in that case I'll probably be very annoyed with all the losses by the end of the season

this is a great year definitely... with the french and 15th slam history making... i was all expecting federer not to win in montreal... so i couldn't care much... it's still a decent tournament having to make into last eight... better than last yr...

now i only look forward to US open... hope he wins for 6th consecutive year...

regards,

I think there is a difference between bashing and criticizing. Roger's performance from yesterday won't take anything away from his achievements in Paris and Wimbledon and all us fans still can't probably really believe what happened in the past weeks, but nevertheless it was frustrating to see how he missed his chances in the QF.

Here are some highlights of the match:

Ah well. Was a bit after hearing about the 5-1 lead, but it was a great run. 21 matches, 2 GS and a Masters. Time for a little rest...and peak in time for the USO

OK I was out all day yesterday and didn't see the match. But know what happened. All I'll say about it is

Anyway I just saw the draw for Cincy. Is this for real? Roddick, Murray and Del Potro all in the same half of the draw, and all in Roger's half? And once again Roger potentially having to play Stan in the 3rd round?

Living in the US and having to listen to ESPN is worse. I'm sure Patrick McEnroe, Brad Gilbert and Darren Cahill are wetting themselves right now.

I'm just cheering for JDMP to take him down again. A Roddick/Murray final would be boring as hell.

It's the whole what have you done for me lately mentality. And some just expect Roger to win all the time. Considering he only decided to play a couple days before Montreal started I had zero expectations. I don't think it was a mistake because he got some match play in, picked up a few points. And with the hellish draw he got in Cincy, I'm glad he was able to get some practice in, in Montreal.

yeah i'm sure Roger just schlepped his wife and 3 week old daughters all the way to Montreal so he could tank. Good grief I don't know where some of this shit comes from.
