Federer to Play Wimbledon in Throwback Slacks, Sweater and Loafers
The Sportsman's Daily, 16 June 2009

...snip

While he’ll never have the opportunity to compete against the Bill Tildens, Don Budges and Rod Lavers – giants of the pre-open era (Laver played in both) – Federer is determined to show he can perform at the highest levels on tennis’s grandest stage in the restrictive throwback garb seldom seen outside of a Ralph Lauren ad.

“Nike sent me a prototype yesterday — we’ll have to do something about the sweater, as I’m highly allergic to virgin wool, the slacks don’t break right, the shoes need breaking in and while the scarf is a nice touch, it’s not really my style,” said Federer. “I practiced in it for two hours. I’ll admit, it’s not ideal for today’s more demanding game…but I like the fact that you can walk off the court and go straight to dinner without changing. It’s a real time-saver.”

Oh god this has to be total bullshit. Yeah I can really imagine Roger playing Nadal wearing slacks and loafers AND a sweater! This is not the 1920s fellas!

This coming from Murray actually makes me feel quite sick

Grrr...yes I know it works and it frustrates Roger. In fact I think Roger admitted as much a month or so ago. In the most recent interviews Roger has given he said his biggest weakness is his BH return and that he wants to play more aggressive. Should Roger meet Murray at SW19 I hope he has a different attitude than some of their recent matches and really takes it to Muray. Don't allow his strategy of breaking down the BH to work.

It happened to me for the 2nd time now that Roger doesn't appear in Halle, but I totally understand it that he needed time after this year's demanding RG tournament with the happy end for him I don't see the withdrawal as a bad sign for Wimbledon. The best of 5 matches should give him enough opportunity to find his rhythm.

As the pressure of winning the French Open is off his back now he is hopefully going to play more relaxed
Doris Good to hear that you had a great time

I don't think I was ready to watch him play a few days after all the excitement of RG, so no surprise, he wasn't ready to play

Murray..u're ugly ur game is ugly,.u bring nothing but the ugliness to this elegant and great sport federer has built... U're ruining the tennis for me!
Let me tell u smtn.. Federer might not even like nadal's game...but Nadal is at least a good guy.. and he can hit ball hard from 10m behind the bl.. unlike u, u arrogant piece of ****

Try finding the word 'Brilliant' in dictionary, and you'll find the picture of Roger Federer next to it.

Murray's style may not be pretty (it isn't), his game may be boring, (at times it is - I don't accept that it is ALL the time), he may knock back the ball ad infinitum until he draws the error, but its up to Roger to find a way to counteract this otherwise the h2h will only grow.

Lovely outfit (though I'm not too crazy about the shoes). I'm more curious about what he might wear over it, though. Another blazer? Cardigan? Will he wear anything special at all?
