However it would have been so much easier for him to have skipped the clay season citing any reason and gone on to play grass.
I don't think it would have been a good decision to skip the clay season. He would lose a huge amount of points and beside this he has shown in the last years that he can play well on clay. Don't forget he had surprising losses in Indian Wells and Miami in the years 2007 and 2008 and played good tournaments on clay then afterwards.
Some tricky opponents in Roger's draw, who had good results on clay. But we should take match by match, just as Roger will do
