Re: *** The L'Yvo-fanclub ***

Yeah that is true, I am lucky to have a colleague with the same job who takes care of things when I have holidays. All I will have after a break, is an exploded mail-box

I live in Roermond, a border city in the Netherlands (ca 10 km from Germany and 20 km from belgium).

Ah, you live in Limburg! I wouldn't have guessed from your name, or your flag. Do you know which province Roermond used to reside in historically? I am a coin collector, and I have a coin from several different Dutch provinces. Limburg never made one, which means the area must have belonged to another province before unified coinage begun ca. 1800.

My PB for unread mails after a holiday is 659....but fortunately I could delete most of them immediately.

Nice meeting you too

Re: *** The L'Yvo-fanclub ***

Yep Limburg indeed. So you know quite a bit about Holland. Roermond has actually been about everything during the years. But they were part of Gelre originally I think...

In general people wouldn't guess I am Dutch with the nick/flag combination. It's just that when I joined MTF I was in a Finland-mood, so I chose the Finnish flag. And I just happen to be a big Swiss-fan

Re: *** The L'Yvo-fanclub ***

I know enough to be aware that saying "Holland" instead of "The Netherlands" can insult some non-Hollanders. I've met a couple of those in my time. And, of course, my coin interest taught me a bit. I have coins from (in alphabetical order):
(The) Batavian Republic
Deventer
Frisia
Gelderland
Groningen Ommelanden
Holland
Overijsel
Utrecht
West Frisia
Zeeland
Zutphen
...and, of course, The Kingdom of The Netherlands itself. Some of these are city coinage, Deventer and Zutphen were of course never provinces.

A Finland-mood sounds interesting Never really had a country mood. But the Swiss fan part I can relate to I've had sports favourites from many parts of the world, but I often find myself rooting for the Swiss. I remember well athletes such as Pirmin Zurbriggen and Hippolyt Kempf. And don't get me started about coins from Swiss cantons

I´m with him for about 6 years. He knows my father and step mother but our families didn´t meet yet.

My mother is in Berlim but I never went to Germany to visit her, she uses to come to my country from time to time.

I usually prefer the Netherlands, but many people don't understand which country I mean until I mention Holland. Still I think Holland is not the right naming, because it refers to only two of the twelve provinces. And I don't live in one of those two...

I didn't know they all used to have their own coin. Must be a long time ago, because the provinces are named different now.

In general when I am travelling or read articles about a country, I get a bit of a mood for that. When I joined back in 2002 I had spent my summer holidays (or at least 3,5 week of them) in Finland. It was a special holiday for me, because I learned a lot about myself (I was 17 back then).

I love Switzerland, and their people. And their sportsmen are great too.

I see

Must be weird living that far from your mother! May I ask why you never visited her in Germany?

Never had conditions, a ticket to there is very expensive for me yet. I´m used about living so far from my mother because it has been in this way all my live by her option. I was raised by my Grandmother.

Re: *** The L'Yvo-fanclub ***

That sounds logical, I guess everything that is normal to one, can be weird to someone else. Glad we're all different

You are right there, far travels are expensive unfortunately...
