Re: Roger news and articles

well in my book , he's right.. if all those are legends.. then i need a new word for him.. ( no disrespect for jordan and the others, ofc! )

Try finding the word 'Brilliant' in dictionary, and you'll find the picture of Roger Federer next to it.

Re: Roger news and articles

"Bored on the 4th of July" even better than "It's Pete Samprazzzz".

British tabloids are as close to being trash as newspaper can be but they do have a talent for headlines

Re: Roger news and articles

This will make your blood boil. Basically Pete pissing on Roger saying he had the tougher competion, Roger's h2h with Nadal makes his GOAT status questionable and basically that Roger's success on grass is because he doesn't face any serve/volley players (i.e. Sampras in his prime would've beaten Roger).

Thanks Pete. You're such a class act.

Re: Roger news and articles

Bodo must be salivating, I bet we're gonna get blessed with a brand new blog with revolutionary insight into the GOAT debate by the end of the week.

Quote:
Federer can play shots that only a tennis genius can produce. While Federer's brilliance is undeniable, his losing streak to Nadal makes me wonder: was his genius magnified by the fact he was playing people like Hewitt and Roddick in major finals who could not take advantage of his vulnerabilities the way Rafael Nadal can?
At least we can comfort ourselves with the thought that Roger is now on a winning streak against a kneeless Nadal

I tell you the face of tennis would be very very different today if Roger had had to face people with the versatility of an Ivanisevic, a Courrier or a Chang in his GS finals. Very different indeed.

Sampie showing his true colours.

Never in doubt. I wonder how many games Sampras would have taken against Nadal on clay. :retard:

Don't worry Pete you still got the Wimbly record.

Re: Roger news and articles

Samprass's head to head with a teen Roger on his best surface makes his GOAT status even more questionable
I have just one word for him:
2001 R16: R. Federer def P. Samprass 7-6(7), 5-7, 6-4, 6-7(2), 7-5 and Fed wasnt even in his prime!!!!
He's just lucky he never got to play peak Fed at his best surface, head to head would have been even more embarrassing, lucky guy this Samprass lucky guy.

Fedmug

Rogelio no complain he good boy no?

Am taking what Bodo wrote down with a pinch of salt seeing that he's the one writing down what Sampras supposedly said, and we know from experience how some of those so-called sports journalists splice things up from different "conversations". That said, am spurred to ask how much of Bodo's "motivations" spring from the fact that he wrote Pete Sampras's biography -- how do you get people to buy a book on someone who made 14 when here you have someone who already made 15 (and counting?). One green-eyed monster right there.

SWISS DIARY: FEDERER AND HARD GRAFT

Jimmy Rice in Switzerland

15 July 2009

In the second part of our diary from Switzerland, we reveal what happened when tennis legend Roger Federer popped by the camp and assess how the players are coping with double training.

Wimbledon champ Roger Federer popped into the team hotel. The racket man knows all about Liverpool, being a big fan of FC Basel - against who we drew 3-3 in 2002 to crash out of the Champions League. The lads didn't seem to hold it against Roger, who apologised for interrupting their lunch before agreeing to pictures with each and every player. Carra took a particular interest in a true sporting icon.

Re: Roger news and articles

Roger is going to get honoured tomorrow in Basel at 6 p.m. CET in front of the hotel Basel. He becomes a "Ehrespalebärglemer". This is an award which is given since 1976 to people who make Basel popular. The public part will be about 15 minutes, afterwards there will be a private meeting.

Roger Brennwald, the tournament director of the Swiss Indoors, has received this award in 2001 and Arthur Cohn, the famous Swiss filmproducer, got it in 1996.

Re: Roger news and articles

I don't know why anyone thought Pete Sampras would say anything different in his own country? It looked to me that he was smiling through gritted teeth when his slam record was broken and his comments only show him for the hypocrite he really is.

He's one bitter man. But then I never really got the sense he loved the sport even when he was playing. He liked winning and being the best. And now someone statistically is better than him and it's obvious it bugs him.

Come on, you don't like when people over-interpret again and again Roger's interviews.

Please do the same for Sampras.

useless old guy
