Federer provoque une vive émotion en Argentine
Jeudi 3 Mai 2012 - 17:49

Cela m’a beaucoup surpris.

it's a French article, but they quote an interview in "La Nacion" in Argentina of Guillermo Marin, promoter of the exhibition between Fed and Del Potro on the 12th of december in Buenos-Aires, and who has previously organized football matches with Ronaldinho and Messi and, last year, an exhibition between Sampras and Agassi in Buenos-Aires suburbs.
He says that he received an incredible number of calls after Fed confirmed this exho, that he was very surprised then decided to organize it in a stadium with 20.000 people, where they will make a concert previous night. He says that the emotion about Federer is similar to the one with Messi in Argentina. Roger will come with 2 or 3 friends and his manager and live in Algodón Mansión in Recoleta dictrict. He will meet a group of children then have a dinner with selected VIPs. It may be the first and last time Fed comes to Argentina. Him coming here is like the Beatles coming to Buenos-Aires ! He thinks Roger could have filled 10 times River Plate Stadium, it's like John Lennon ! Fed will generate more emotion than Borg, McEnroe or Connors in his opinion.

Argentine media say that Fed will receive 2.5 million dollars for coming, and the price of the tickets will be between 400 and 1500 dollars

Re: Roger news and articles

On a side note, a publishing company in France announced that it will inaugurate its new collection "fantasies" with a book titled "How I made love with Roger Federer" released on the 12th of may

The website of French Tennis Magazine says that "it's not a true sex relationship of course, it's a long love letter written as a poem by a narrator (who's not known to be a man or a woman ) who is in a lot of sadness but found through Roger a reason to fight. It's a very chast book, not at all erotic" The author of the book actually has a man's name : Philippe Roi (don't know him) ... or maybe it was misspelled from Philippe Roy which seems to be a writer's name.

Comment j'ai couché avec Roger Federer...

Ouf ! On est soulagé. Mais très curieux tout de même...

Re: Roger news and articles

Thanks for sharing the news about the exho in Argentina duong.

Maybe you could add this info in this thread

How well known is Roger in your country? (f.k.a: A question to the Americans here)

(It's about the popularity of Roger all around the world)

It's a shame about the prices of the tickets. Even if it is a once in a lifetime chance for many Argentinian fans to see Roger playing life it's ridiculous to demand so much money for a ticket as this means that many fans probably won't be able to afford a ticket.

Re: Roger news and articles

According to a German radio station a part of the street along the Gerry Weber Stadion in Halle will receive Roger's name. Gerry Weber himself filed a motion and the city administrations and local politicans gave their thumbs up for it.

The street will get the new name during this year's Gerry Weber Open.

I don't mind Fed getting that huge amount of appearance cash all too much, but really - those ticket prices are ridiculous.
I hope this exho won't end up as a complete only for the "Rich and Famous"-show, but I fear it will...

I don't think those are US dollar prices. Someone on rf.com said the prices would be around $90. Still high but not outrageous.

Re: Roger news and articles

Just for further clarification. The exchange rate for the peso, which uses the same sign as the USD, is USD0.22585 for one peso. So 2.5 mil is sth like $500k which is not that much. I guess Gillette are also paying something as they're the main sponsors.

200 to 1500 pesos.
That's something like 45 to 350 dollars.

They talk about 20.000 people in that venue, in the city of Tigre, near Buenos Aires.

And the tickets will be avaliable in 10 days aprox. I'm gonna be there. Damn, my biggest dream...

Good luck with getting your ticket!
Hope you'll be able to get a good one - I guess it will be worth the cash.
