Re: Roger Federer is going to be a father

Congratulations. I am so happy for them. They are such a sweet couple. Wish them all the best.

P.S. That includes Fed(the real number 1) to be back at his position.

Re: Roger Federer is going to be a father

The back problems started in November, didn't they?

I was just thinking, during one of his oncourt interviews with Jim Courier at the Australian Open, Roger actually dropped a hint but nobody picked up on it:

Jim Courier asked Roger what he did during his holiday and he said he "lay on the beach, ate, slept, watched movies, watched the sunset, did nothing.....and you can guess what else" when the crowd started whistling.
This is pretty risque for a guy who's notoriously private and rarely talks about his life with Mirka. If she's expecting in the summer then she would have been in her first or second month at this time.

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."

Re: Roger Federer is going to be a father

It's over. Federer should retire now. I mean he had Nadal to worry about now he has to worry about diapers too! Is it just me or Mirka has been pregnant for more than 9 months already?

Roger Federer and his long-time girlfriend Mirka Vavrinec announced on Thursday that they are expecting their first child this summer.
"I have some really awesome news to share with all of you," the 27-year-old Swiss told his official website. "Mirka and I are excited to let you know that we will be parents this summer! Mirka is pregnant and we are so happy to be starting a family."

Federer, currently No. 2 in the South African Airways ATP Rankings, is competing at an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tennis tournament in Indian Wells, California.

"This is a dream come true for us," said the 13-time Grand Slam champion. "We love children and we are looking forward to being parents for the first time. Mirka is feeling great and everything is going well."

The couple met when they were both competitors at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. Vavrinec reached a career-high No. 76 in the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Rankings (Sept. 10, 2001).

Re: Roger Federer is going to be a father

Well having a child turned out to be good for Tiger Woods who is considered to be the GOAT of his sport so hopefully it can have the same impact on Federer. It will be interesting to see how the birth affects his summer preparation especially if gets near Wimbledon.

Congrats!

But more importantly, when is she due? Please let it be during Wimbledon.... or the USO!

Re: Roger Federer is going to be a father

Congrats to the happy couple!

Tiger was just as dominant after his first child so I don't think it means the end of Federer. Maybe it's a good thing because he'll be more relaxed and happy and less obsessed with GOAT, #1, Nadal, etc.
