So I see Roger got Djoko in his half, and Rafa got Muzza... I guess Roger's the lucky one this time.

In essence yes, Novak isn't playing that great as yet and in general it seems like a good matchup for Roger.

Lucky because he get's Soderling R2 and Nadal has a cakewalk to the SF?

I hope Roger skips Paris.

I would rather him skip too as well Jen, and instead really focus and reenergize for the Masters cup. Nonetheless, I can see how he would like to give himself another chance to not end a season without a masters series title.

Well I hope he doesn't show up just for that reason. When his career is over no one is going to care whether he went a year without winning a masters event.

Absolutely, Roger is just too professional any way, he usually never withdraws from a tournie without a very good personal reason.

Nonetheless, it would be best if he skipped Paris.

I agree that Soderling is no walk-over, but I consider Murray to be a far greater threat to both Roger and Rafa. And face it, you don't REALLY believe that Soderling is a great threat to Roger, do you?
In the end it's always the same thing: whoever your opponents are, you must beat them all. A lot of us moaned about Roger's Madrid draw, but in the end there was just ONE problem, and that fellow is happily parked on the OTHER side of the draw this time. Yes, I consider that a 'lucky' draw.

I don't. Getting back his confidence is most important for Roger right now, and Paris might well be an excellent opportunity for him to achieve just that. He will have plenty of time to recuperate for Shanghai thereafter. But we'll just have to wait and see - whatever he and his team decide, I'm sure it's the proper decision.

Could they stuff this quarter with more qualifiers, injured and out of form players?

Well, I don't think that top 4 players are going to live up to their rankings in this tournament. It remains to be seen if Murray is capable of reaching the SF/F 3 weeks in a row.

Of course, upsets can happen, especially now at the end of the season. But as of yet, I haven't seen any weaknesses in Muzza's playing this week. Looks like he's in the form of his life right now.

As for Nadal's 'easy' draw, apart from Muzza, I see Tomas Berdych, Sam Querrey, Juan Martin Del Potro, Mario Ancic, Ivo Karlovic and David Nalbandian there - might just be me, but all of these players are pretty good on HC (when in form, of course), so him reaching the SF easily surely isn't a given to me.

LOL, I see only Berdych in his quarter.
