Let's not talk history yet. He's still making it.

Re: *******Hard Court Season Pictures*******

Why does he have all those AMS shields around his name, I don't think all the players have that many of them. I used to think that it corresponded to the # AMS tournaments a player had won but that's not it, or do all the players have it and I just haven't been paying enough attention.

Re: *******Hard Court Season Pictures*******

Thanks for the photos ... heartbreaking though some of them are. Watching that first set reminded me of "vintage Federer" and I thought "great, I'll be asleep by 2am UK time, happy in the knowledge that I've seen an aggressive, attacking Fed". Then it all unravelled and I watched in horror as he more or less imploded and Simon took full advantage of it. I could hardly believe what I saw some of the time. He played like he didn't believe he could win a match, let alone a title. I finally hit the hay at 3.30 am .. but took some while to get off to sleep. Roger, stop doing this to me ... I'm getting old before my time!

Re: *******Hard Court Season Pictures*******

That was pretty much how I felt. I woke up at 2:30 (I went to sleep around midnight), I woke up right on time for the warm up (ATP on the laptop, so I didn't even have to leave my bed, so I woke up slowly for Roger's warm up), at the end of the first set, I thought I'm going to be back asleep with a smile on my face at 3:20 AM, tops.

Eventually, I got to bed around 6 AM, and had to get up around 7:30.

I was watching ATPTV in bed on my laptop too ... not sure I'll be watching his first match in Cinci .. my nerves couldn't take being shredded again so soon. Who am I kidding? If its late night again, I wouldn't sleep for worrying about how he's doing Being a Fed fan never used to be this difficult!

From kyriepat on rogerfederer.com

I just wanted to share some pics of Roger I managed to take from his practice today for the doubles match with Stan tonight. During his practice, Roger hit a beautiful shot down the line and then the guy behind me shouted "Where was that yesterday?" I wanted to hit him but Roger's Fan Crowd was already at work booing him and telling him to go home with colourful four-lettered words. Justice has been served.

As far as I know, the shields indeed reflect the # of AMS tournaments won by a player.

I thought so as well but in the pic where he's changing his shirt there's like 19 shields surrounding his name and he hasn't won 19 AMS tournaments, so now I'm not sure.

I'm sure he will, Suk

The previous half of this year had been really hard for Roger. while he struggled to retrieve his form from the illness, the pressure from the media and the mass about his 'decline' was getting more and more unbearable. Then when he began to pick up his form, there came the painful Wimbledon loss. I hope he's strong enough to overcome the current mental difficulties and pull himself together, though he may really need some time to digest the anguish. Don't let the pressure get to you too much, Rogi

Maybe they made a mistake, or we have lost count, or do they count the year's end Masters in Shanghai as well? I don't know...

The only other player that always has such a battery of shields around his name is Rafa - and regarding the fact that he's piled up quite a few as well, that cannot be a coincidence, no?
