Thumbs up Encouragement from Dirky!

I've not read the boards in a while nor posted but I for one am not worried about Roger's year. I am disappointed that he couldn't get his game (mainly his baseline) back to it's normal Ninja style during the hardcourt masters but I know he is very rusty from not practicing for a long time after OZ. I firmly believe Roger will find his form again through his clay court training and in the next few events. I believe he will put up one or two claycourt titles.

Some around here (not necessarily you fans here) are writing Roger off or don't think he can dominate anymore. I find it laughable. I've been behind Roger back in the early part of his career and had to endure his groin injury at Wimbledon in 01 which took him out of the whole summer and yet he still made the 2nd week of the US Open and it continued to bother him in the fall, then there was that awful 02 mid year where he lost in both RG and Wimbledon first rds and lost his coach which ruined his whole summer. This period is nothing compared to those dark times, so I for one am very hopeful about his claycourt season and the rest of the year as well.

Re: Encouragement from Dirky!

Nice to read something encouraging about Roger on the forum I have to confess it's somehow depressing to see how many fans are writing Roger off, therefore it is good to hear your opinion.

I don't mind it to criticize a player and of course it was frustrating to see some of Roger's performances this year, especially as we all knew what he is capable off, but don't you think it is fair to give him some time to recover from his illness? I'm sure he wasn't happy to lose matches he would normally win, but when he feels it was the right thing for him to play and get matchpractice we should believe in him as he knows himself the best.

Roger spoiled us with so many great moments and as he said he created a monster with his achievements. It's always easy to support a player when he has success, but I know most of you went a long way with Roger like myself and already supported him before he got used to receive the GS trophies.
I'm pretty sure the majority of us has been following tennis for a lot longer before Roger came up to the limelight and therefore you should know that each champion goes through dark times.

It will probably make success even more sweeter when Roger finds a way to get back in shape

Re: Encouragement from Dirky!

Wimbledon will be very special this year indeed and if he indeed defends his wimbledon trophy yet again it will be freaking awesome.

It's just a shame that they don't show enough tennis on Tv and when they do they rarely show the Federer matches.

American tv networks are just too biased and limit their showings exclusively to american players. It's usually only Serena and Roddick whom they air the most.

I have no doubt Roger will rebound and capture 3/4 slams in the end.

Hey Karin, it's a Fed thread. In a Rafa thread I will say that Rafa will win 2/3 remaining slams. I know how to play both sides of things.
