Shouldn't Federer have qualified anyway for winning the AO (I don't think his seeding can fall that far down for him to be excluded)?

I was thinking the same aren't GS champions automatically qualified unless they're not ranked inside the top 20 or something like that. I haven't done any of the math so I have no clue whether it's still possible for Roger to fall out of the top 20 by the end of the year

Edit: I took a quick look at the current rankings and even with only his points from this year Roger should still be in top 20 so maybe they no longer have the rule I mentioned above.

I think in 2010, the top 8 ranked players will qualify. No place for the GS champion who fall out top 20.

i think as long as roger is still #2... there is always a point to update this thread to see how close he is to retake #1... but i can fully understand that the motivation to update this thread just isn't there... just like the motivation for me to update the record #1 thread keeps dropping by the day when roger keeps losing....

What's the point of this thread being bumped, again? It seems to be only active when Roger is #1.

Roger for no.1 after Wimby 2011. He has very few points to defend from Oct 09 - July 10. Lets get that Sampras record!

Re: Federer vs Nadal & Djokovic ranking points (updated after TMS Romel)

Anyone know the points layout for now til the end of the year. I know Rafa doesn't have that much to defend...then again neither does Roger except for final at USO & his WTF appearance (which is I think basically what Rafa has to defend too but a SF at USO & his rather worse appearance at WTF). Just wondering what sort of gains Roger could make on Rafa or not?

Italy

Roger Federer

Always a fan, no matter what
