No, he will not. He has much more bonus points than Nadal. Seeds for Wimbledon are not based solely on ranking.

Re: Federer vs Nadal & Djokovic ranking points (updated after TMS Romel)

Federer is guaranteed to be the top seed for Wimbledon even if he is number 2 in the ATP rankings. I am more concerned about the possibility of him slipping to no. 3 after the end of the grass season.

Did Federer equal Sampras record regardless of the result of Nadal-Doderling match ?

No, of course not - like has been said quite often before over here, Roger had to reach the semis to equal Sampras' record. If Rafa wins tomorrow, Roger will fall one week short.

Why ???
Sampras is 286.
Federer is 285 as of May 31, 2010.

If Nadal def. Soderling, he will be #1 as of June 7, 2010.
So Who is #1 in the week between May 31-June 7 ??

You said so yourself in your own post: Federer's ranking discussion

As for how these weeks are exactly counted, I don't know - anyone else?
But the general consensus is that yes, if Rafa wins tomorrow, he will fall one week short.

I was talking about how Federer can end as #1 after RG.
Now, it is a fact that If Nadal won he will be #1 & Federer #2. So is that week that we live in now is already counted in the 285 of Federer or will be the 286th ?? I don't know.

Neither do I, that's why I asked if perhaps somebody else could explain this to us.

Re: Federer vs Nadal & Djokovic ranking points (updated after TMS Romel)

I'm not sure there's any real point in updating this thread at this point. If Roger somehow wins Halle and Wimbledon while Nadal is ousted early at Queens and Wimbledon then it MIGHT get interesting again, but that is VERY unlikely.

Proud fan of Olderer, the GOAT.

Doesn't matter ! It isn't the case !
In 2009 Nadal was also the first player to qualify for Masters Cup & eventually he couldn't win even a set !
