So there were 4 matches with huge odds dropping and none of them won (i mean one did but it was void anyway so shouldn't count). Have you ever seen anything like this?
What's so strange? Russian challenger with futures lineup, similar stuff happened last year. With low limits line will move heavily.
Excerpt from reddit AMA, last line explains it.
It's all about balancing the money. Think about professional gamblers and highs and lows they have trying to take directional bets on games. Now think of a business going through that. It's a horrible business model. Most weeks they wouldn't be able to make payroll.
How books make their money is through vig or juice. It's the extra you pay so that it's not a perfect bet. A book will charge you -110 on a coin toss so that no matter what comes up they will make 4% of the total wagered. Their objective is to get people to bet more often, not to try to predict the outcomes of each game. This is why you should always look for the best price. Also, if you are Canadian, avoid betting the gaming commissions (BC, Lotoquebec). They charge 60 cent lines (-130 on an even bet!!) - a total ripoff.
Further, look at the final scores in football games this season. You won't see that they are all 3 or 7 point games with 45 point totals as the line setters would have you believe! These lines are set because if you see Seahawks -3 with a 72 point total (closer to what really happened) you'll hammer the saints. Line setting is about psychology.
