so can someone explain the two ALTs in the MD ?
okay, the first case (DULDAEV) may be easy. he was #1 seed in the QD and obviously someone (i think BEHAR) withdrew from the MD, so DULDAEV got in. but in which case exactly can this happen? QD has to be made already. also the MD, i think. and QD shall not have started to play, yet, because then a LL would get the spot. but has the withdrawal of the MD has to be a late withdrawal?
and for the second ALT (ZHYRMONT), i still dont know exactly. whom did he replace? and why was he on the ALT list with a ranking of #250 ? would he have played qualies, if there would not have been a vacant spot in the MD?
answers are welcome
I guess the Zhyrmont appearance could be explained by the following point of the ATP Rulebook (http://www.atpworldtour.com/~/media/...6793A33CE.ashx
, p. 77):
"6) Emergency Situations.
a) The President may authorize substitutions in ATP World Tour tournaments
in situations when there are withdrawal(s) of player(s) who would have been
seeded based upon their position on the original acceptance list. The withdrawal
and substitution must occur within the period beginning on the Monday
prior to the start of the event week and ending at 12 Noon, Eastern Time,
USA, on the Friday before the event week. The substitute(s) ranking, as of
the entry deadline, must be within the original cut-off for the main draw. If no
substitution is made within this defined time period, then the next player on
the acceptance list shall be moved into the main draw."
I didn't follow all changes in the EL for this event, but I think Nedovyesov (who would be seeded here) has withdrawn sufficiently early that the organizers have time to apply for permission to substitute him by Zhyrmont...
