Re: Week 37 : Petange (Entry List)

Ouanna was GOATing in the first set against Benni Becker and then suddenly turned into an unforced error machine and just won two games
in the rest of the match, before retiring in the third set.
Good thing Benni is is QF. It's going to be a tough match against Paul-Henri Mathieu.
Go Benni!

Re: Week 37 : Petange (Entry List)

Struff served for the match twice, *5-4, *6-5, broken both times, couldn't set up one MP.

At times tree moves more than him, Desein pushed a number of balls on Struff backhand which is really poor.

Re: Week 37 : Petange (Entry List)

No suprise, in those two service games he got three 1st serves in. Other points he had to win by playing, well, Struff and his backhand really don't get along, Desein is a better mover and knows how to attack it.

Third set was overall scrubfest, too many breaks for this kind of surface.

Re: Week 37 : Petange (Entry List)

Struff is a choker. Mentally so weak. He lost a set from *5-2 *40-15* on grass this year against a grass mug. Choking a break is not a special thing for him.

RIP HENRY.

How was Mathieu's match? I wasn't at home and couldn't watch. Didn't think he would need 3 sets against Desein

Here's a synopsis of what I saw. I started watching with PHM serving at 5-3 30-30.

PHM was called for a time violation while preparing to serve at 30-30. He won the pt, then argued with the umpire. I think he was saying the ball boys were taking a long time so it wasn't his fault he wasn't serving in time. Then he served it out. But, he continued to give the umpire some words. PHM's anger must have not subsided because when I tuned in again he was down 0-3 in the second set. He held for 1-3. At 1-4 he got broken and then tanked the rest of the second set. Desein served 3 or 4 aces, I think 4 to serve out the set. The third set started with PHM holding. Then, Desein served 4 aces in a row in his first service game. So I think he served 8 aces in a row in those two service games. A record? I don't know. PHM then held for 2-1. PHM then broke Desein for 3-1. He held for 4-1. He had BP for 5-1 but Desein saved it and held for 2-4. PHM held for 5-2. Desein held for 3-5 and PHM served for the match. As often happens, PHM failed to serve the match out with a pretty bad service game and then broke Desein for the match at 4-5. So, the last two matches PHM has squeaked by and failed to serve both matches out, but breaking back each time to win. I guess a win is a win and while this trend may work at the Challenger level, it is probably a factor in why he hasn't been winning too many matches at the ATP level. But, he's defended his pts. from Petange last year, and faces the same opponent in the final, Kamke as last year. It should be a competitive final if PHM still has some gas in the tank.

Re: Week 37 : Petange (Entry List)

Thanks Yea last year Kamke won and it was a bit of a surprise, I've noticed PHM got a WC for Metz and R1 is also winnable. hope he can get some confidence back and continue to play next year.
