Re: Week 31: Vancouver, Canada [Entry List]

what would it take for the van open to be upgraded to an ATP 250 event. given the strong support davis cup received in vancouver it would be a perfect west coast event to compliment the rogers cup in MTL and TOR

It would take a better facility I think, the DC isn't played at the same place as this event, it's played at a small country club, also the event is either partly or mostly run by the USTA, not TC, so it's probably up to them if it's to change, which they probably won't, event hasn't been that good of a CH anyhow.

Yes, this is an American challenger, not a Canadian one. It is just played in Canada.

Peter Polansky
Nestor - Chvojka - Pospisil - Raonic - Peliwo

Kubot will not play here due to injury, Peliwo and Dancevic get 2 of wildcards, 2 still to be announced.

Yes, but I think I heard that they do work with TC for a bit of it maybe, like at least giving WC's to Canadians, also TC runs the event website.

Filip should be eligible for SE now that he's in semis of Lexington. I think they can retroactively take away the WC to save it for someone else and give Peliwo the SE?

also if Frank was going to play he just should have signed up. That kind of thing always irritates me

Hopefully, if SE spots aren't filled up. Bester getting one here should be NID, grew up in North Vancouver, even more NID if Peliwo does indeed get an SE.
