Re: Week 46 : Helsinki (Entry List)

Hopefully Lacko will again remember on his spring form, where he destroyed Becker in Dallas without any problems. Final against Nieminen would be great end of season.

Roger Federer - Martin Klizan - Lukas Lacko - Milos Raonic - Fernando Verdasco

Dustin Brown - Nick Kyrgios - Norbert Gombos - Stanislas Wawrinka - Dominic Thiem

incredible choke in doubles by ignatik/wang. was up 6-4 5-3 *40-30, then completely lost it.

Re: Week 46 : Helsinki (Entry List)

Lacko with 2 MPs at 6-3 5-4 40-15* ... then 4-1 lead in tiebreak.

Now Becker serving first, Lacko is better but mental advantage on Becker´s side.

Roger Federer - Martin Klizan - Lukas Lacko - Milos Raonic - Fernando Verdasco

Dustin Brown - Nick Kyrgios - Norbert Gombos - Stanislas Wawrinka - Dominic Thiem

Re: Week 46 : Helsinki (Entry List)

Lacko-Becker was very good quality. Lukas was solid in all aspects of the game, not especially great but very solid and consistent during whole match. He had magnificient chances to take that 2nd set, but we have to give some credit to Becker who played some great points in those moments. There wasn´t very much space for Lukas to finish it. Becker definitely had momentum going into 3rd set, but Lukas somehow managed to win it. He won 4(!!!) points on the return in the final set and that was enough for one decisive break! While Becker wasn´t better player in 2nd set, he was a bit better in the 3rd, but Lukas took that crucial point and that´s all what matters. Lukas wasn´t broken on serve in a long match like this, that´s also worth mentioning.

Great way to finish the season, which was otherwise quite mediocre overall for Lukas. He is Top 50 material for sure, just that consistency and attitude, then he´ll be OK. He´s really focusing now.

Re: Week 46 : Helsinki (Entry List)

Well, from Miami to Tokyo it was quite a disaster for Lukas (except Wimbledon 3rd round).

He was great in Australia (3rd round), then Zagreb final, solid performances in Dubai, Dallas or Miami. After Tokyo he found himself little bit with that Tashkent final appereance.

After that he went on losing in both Vienna and Paris but I somehow felt it could stop in Bratislava, where he reached SF in the end. He said that he is exhausted, but with this Helsinki final he upped his confidence at least for 2013. He can end the season 50th if he wins a title.

By the way, Struff now won 1st set vs Nieminen 7-6. Quite surprising to me, I don´t know Struff that much, but with his Loughborough final he should be good.

Dustin Brown - Nick Kyrgios - Norbert Gombos - Stanislas Wawrinka - Dominic Thiem

Re: Week 46 : Helsinki (Entry List)

50-50 situation, I think. Struff who is red-hot now is dangerous as hell, very solid in the rallies with great movement. Nieminen is Nieminen and has the crowd behind him. But there is a solid chance for Lukas to take that title, doesn´t really matter who he plays tomorrow. Longer they play (Nieminen vs Struff), better for Lukas. Becker and especially Vinciguerra were real tests, I am very satisfied just now, especially with mental side that Lukas showed in tough matches.

Re: Week 46 : Helsinki (Entry List)

Nieminen made those key points, crowd really helped him. Beautiful way to finish the season for Lukas, against a local star and a great crowd. Gonna be a good one. I was predicting it also 2 days ago.
