Forza Leo! bounce back on this one!

Interesting first round matches in Trungelliti-Velotti, Arguello-Dutra and Schwartzman-M.Gonzalez

Trungelliti def. Velotti 7-5 4-6 6-4

Velotti is a mediocre player. Trungelliti makes a lot of errors but was the more offensive player so glad he came through.

In your view maybe, but I disagree, has had some decent success CH wise, he's only 20, long ways to go yet.

Have to say that I'm not liking the CH feeds this week, so I'll probably skip them, the player on the far side of the court in this match almost looked like a dot.

I've seen many matches were Velotti played great and he's got more hype going on than most of the other young argentine players coming up but, yes, in a way i agree. He fights hard, has some touch and solid groundstrokes but i belive size will be a huge disadvantage for him as he progresses in his career. He's very short, serve is attackable and lacks power overall. I mean, Schwartzman is even shorter and smaller but generates way more pace in all of his shots, to name an example out of that group. Arguello has the most potential by far IMO.

It's an exciting crop of players, though. I hope they can all push eachother on, and keep improving.

I've always rated Trungelliti, not as highly as the likes of Bagnis, Arguello and Velotti, but he's certainly a handy player. Anything can happen at more advanced ages. Just look at Alund, he's 27 I think, on his way to the top 100 after a lot of obscurity. I'm not saying he'll go any higher, I sure hope not, but there are ways to improve right into your twenties.

I agree about Arguello. He's the one of the young Argentine group to watch. I also like Andreozzi and Pella, and DelBo may not belong with this group but he's still young. Arguello has the biggest game of the young Argentines.

Velotti has hype for beating fellow 15-18 year old kids but out steadying them and having good feel for his shots. This is the big leagues and as you said, his game isn't big enough. That backhand of his is awkward, especially the slice he hits. He lacks a kill shot. And I think his footwork is mediocre. We'll see how he improves with more experience.

Mayer def. Decoud 6-1 6-4

Decent performance but not outstanding.

Yes, why not Pella, he's having the most success right now.

Forgot Bagnis too.

Re: Week 42 : Villa Allende (Entry List)

Rufin is playing with more confidence than I've seen from him before. Really attacking every ball and hitting with punishing intent these days.

Re: Week 42 : Villa Allende (Entry List)

Robert is playing better this set. Good counterattacking, a lot of running, fewer errors. Rufin is making more errors himself.
