Poor match from the Frenchman.
actually the main problem was his ROS
because of altitude and good serves of Cabal (who is a good doubles player), he couldn't worry Cabal serve until last set

but FH and 1st serve were great, come on Guillaume !

Rufin def. Alund 6-7(9) 6-4 7-6(2)

The Frenchman's serve and forehand got him through. Great week with back to back close wins, matches Rufin usually loses.

Alund is a head case.

Great win for Willy, though. Should win the title, now.

Re: Week 40 : Quito (Entry List)

problem is that he's injury-prone, and he lacks of motivation/concentration in challengers

but this south-american tour will be the step towards the top 100 :-)

Re: Week 40 : Quito (Entry List)

Rufin had a lot of injuries yeah, plus he's such a headcase...
Nevertheless, this week he looks like a mental giant considering his scorelines.
He's still young with a lot of potential

Why didn't they play both semi's today, that's weird.

Re: Week 40 : Quito (Winner : Joao Souza)

Souza is the altitude challenger king. Bucaramanga the lowest one at 950m also won at Bogota twice, Cali and Quito plus a semi final at Gstaad.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
