Re: Week 19 : Prague (Entry List)

I remember Zeba being pretty decent few years ago...now he seems like an error machine. Maybe today is just a bad day at the office

Re: Week 19 : Prague (Entry List)

Zeba is playing more aggressive so far in the second set. He should have done that more often in the first set but a good serving game here so far.

Pressure. He's usually solid yet sort of unimposing from the baseline. He's trying to do more than he's capable, but he has to.

We had a convo about him before, Martijn, if you recall. I think he can be a top 85-110 player. Can't argue with the challenger results, he consistently makes QF/SF/F at this level. He's nothing special, but he's got enough game to win matches against guys who can't rush him/take the offense away from him.

Well, this year his W/L record (this week excluded) is only 63.16% in Challengers. I think this best reflects his ability. He has been neither dominant nor consistent.

I actually like his game, but his foray into the Top 100 was a combination of two things: a really shitty year prior to that and therefore very few points to defend, and great success in very weak Latin American Challengers, especially those on high altitude. I think he should normally be just outside the Top 100, probably between 110-130.

Edited to add: if he loses today, his W/L goes up to 67%; if he wins it goes to 70%.

They used to have an ATP event, but it was taken away due to some financial problems with the licence holder.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Machado wins 6-2 6-1

I agree his challenger record this season has been less good. He has lost only to good players, though. He has five QF or better results.

He was clearly way overranked when he got into the top 50 in I think it was 2009, and he was playing above his real level. I do think, though, he wouldn't completely die at the ATP level. He can play on all surfaces (but grass) and he's good mentally outside of the choking.

Re: Week 19 : Prague (Entry List)

Does Klizan have enough game to hang in the top 100?

What's up with Zebs serve, how wrong a toss is that, has a punchy bh.

Didn't Zellabos make a final at an ATP tournament?

Hard to say as he hasn't really given the ATP a crack. Possible though, and in his favour he's still fairly young.

Re: Week 19 : Prague (Entry List)

Zeballos made the finals of St. Petersburg in 2009.

Klizan does have a game to beat top 100 players on clay, but he's mentally volatile.

Re: Week 19 : Prague (Entry List)

From about the middle of the second set, Klizan has lost control of the rallies, not dictating as much.

This game now is extremely crucial.

Tight as it can get with that missed backhand from Klizan.
